City of Lester Prairie Ordinance 261 - WATERWORKS AND PROVIDING FOR EMERGENCY WATER REGULATION

ORDINANCE NO. 261

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LESTER PRAIRIE MUNICIPAL CODE SPECIFICALLY SECTIONS 2.4 PERTAINING TO WATERWORKS AND PROVIDING FOR EMERGENCY WATER REGULATION

The City Council of the City of Lester Prairie ordains:

Section 1: The following paragraph 2.4.20 shall be added to the Lester Prairie Municipal Code:

“2.4.20 The city council may from time to time adopt emergency regulations by resolution in order to protect the waterworks, the fire fighting capabilities of the City, and to ensure that adequate water is available to residents of the City. Such regulations may include limiting water usage, banning or partially banning yard sprinkling or enforcing other water conservation, and shall further include suspending the use of private wells and/or sandpoints if in the judgment the council use of private wells or sandpoints could endanger the City’s water source. Typical emergencies shall include drought situations, damage to the City water works, unavailability of the city wells due to repair or maintenance, replacement of portions of the water works or any other condition or circumstance which limits the availability of water source or distribution.

Section 2: This ordinance shall take full force and be in effect from and after its passage and publication.

Adopted this 10th day of July, 2006.
