LESTER PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA
Monday, April 16, 2007
A regular meeting of the Board of Education of District 424, Lester Prairie, McLeod County, Minnesota was held on Monday, April 16, 2007, in the school media center.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Fred Blaser at 6:30 p.m. Roll call was taken and Board members present included: Fred Blaser, Chester Hoernemann, and Melissa Williams. Jeff Hecksel, Robert Carlson and Jim Jorgenson were absent. The administration present included: Mr. Miller, Mrs. Lukens, and Mr. Erpenbach. The Herald Journal was represented by Linda Scherer.
Due to lack of quorum, no active business took place. The Chairman decided that all reports would still be given.
The High School seniors gave a presentation on their class trip.
Elementary teachers (K-3 grade) gave a presentation on computers and their classroom activities.
In the good news section the following was noted: a good turnout at the Bulldog Bash with raising almost $15000, a Safe Route to School grant for $175,000 was given to Lester Prairie for a sidewalk out to the new development by County Road 9, and a goal met of $45,000 to build a new play ground and equipment.
Administration reports were given. Head start has been approved and people are meeting to coordinate it with preschool. Much testing is taking place in both the elementary and the high school and is going well. The senior trip went well. The pairing details are being worked out. Athletic banquet is May 16, 2007.
Old business included reports that there will be much fixing on Health and Safety issues, and the Fire Marshall review. The school also participated in the Statewide tornado drill and the administration met with the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) to review procedures and do a physical walk through of the building.
Mr. Miller and Chester Hoernemann gave report on the MSBA Day at the capitol.
Mr. Miller also reported on the MASA Convention especially on, “Response to Intervention” programs.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
