SPECIAL MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION 6:30 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2009 Media Center, Lester Prairie Public Schools
A special meeting of the Board of Education of District 424, Lester Prairie, McLeod County, Minnesota was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, in the school Media Center.
Roll call was taken and the following board members were present: Fred Blaser, Karla Heigl, Chester Hoernemann, Jim Jorgenson and Joe Miller. Rawelin Radtke was absent. Administration present included Pam Lukens and Greg East. There were approximately ten guests present, as well as Linda Scherer from the Herald-Journal.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chester Hoernemann.
Chester Hoernemann made a motion to approve the agenda for the meeting as modified. Jim Jorgenson seconded the motion. The motion passed with a 5-0 vote.
Karla Heigl informed the Board that the Administrative Committee interviewed Mr. Michael McNulty for the position of Superintendent/High School Principal, and the Committee had unanimously decided to recommend that the Board offer a contract to Mr. McNulty for this position.
Chester Hoernemann made a motion to approve the Committee’s recommendation that a contract be offered to Mr. McNulty. The Board Chairperson to work out the details of the contact. The Board to approve the contract at the Regular Board Meeting on August 17, 2009. Jim Jorgenson seconded the motion. The motion passed with a 5-0 vote.
Mr. East informed the Board that he had one internal candidate, Thayne Johnson, apply for the position of Activities Director. He also had one phone call discussion and one e-mail inquiry about the position. Mr. East recommended the Board offer the position of Activities Director to Thayne Johnson.
Fred Blaser made a motion to approve the contract for Thayne Johnson as Activities Director. Chester Hoernemann seconded the motion. The motion passed with a 5-0 vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:41 p.m.
