|SPECIAL MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION
Monday, September 12, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.
Media Center, Lester Prairie Public Schools
A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of District 424, Lester Prairie, McLeod County, Minnesota was held on Monday, September 12, 2011 in the school Media Center.
Roll call was taken and the following Board Members were present: Robert Carlson, Matthew Klitzke, Gregg Machemehl, Joseph Miller, and Rawelin Radtke. Karla Heigl was absent. Administration present: Mike McNulty. A representative from the Herald-Journal Newspaper was also present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Matthew Klitzke.
Motion by Gregg Machemehl, seconded by Matthew Klitzke, to approve the Agenda as presented. Voting was 5 for and 0 against.
Motion by Robert Carlson, seconded by Gregg Machemehl, to approve Resolution issuing bonds not in the amount not to exceed $5,210,000 and calling for a special election on November 8, 2011.
Voting for: Robert Carlson, Matthew Klitzke, Gregg Machemehl, Joseph Miller, and Rawelin Radtke. Voting against: no one. Absent: Karla Heigl
There was general discussion on meeting opportunities. Previous meetings have been held with the Lester Prairie Business Association, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and at the May 16, 2011 School Board Meeting (open to public). Future meetings are planned as follows:
Lester Prairie Lions Club October 13 6:30 p.m.
General Public October 17 6:30 p.m. (prior to Regular School Board Meeting which will then start at 8:00 p.m.)
Lester Prairie City Council October 11
The Superintendent will also set up meeting with Bergin Township.
A suggestion was made to have Mr. McNulty give weekly updates to the Board on his progress.
Mr. McNulty will get resolution documents to Commissioner of Education and the County Auditor by Friday, September 16.
Mailing to all eligible voter households on or around October 15. Mailing must occur 14 days before election.
The legal newspaper must have legal postings October 2431.
Absentee ballots must be available by October 1.
Canvassing of ballots will be done between November 11 and November 18.
Digital slide show and tax calculator will be available on the school website by September 21.
Action items for the next Regular School Board Meeting:
1. Dean of Students
2. Staff restructuring to accommodate increased enrollment.
3. Family maximum Pre-K to 3rd Grade for in-town busing.
