MINUTES
Regular Meeting of the Board of Education
Independent School District 879, Delano Public Schools
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, March 16, 2009, in Loretto City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7 PM with the following members in attendance: Douglas, Milano, Johnson, Nelson, Gallagher and Brasket. Absent: Schaust.
REPORTS AND INFORMATION FROM SCHOOL SOURCES
Board heard reports on Response to Intervention (RtI) and Food Service regarding their purpose.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 2-23-09, the current budget status with year to date adjustments, investment transactions, automatic payment summary, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.
PERSONNEL
Board Approved employment of Assistant Golf Coach, Long Term Substitute for DMS Science, 7 teacher lane changes, Head football coach for 2009-10, 2 Family Medical Leaves, and MOA for part-time Industrial Technology position.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Supt. Sweet reported on the surplus property auction, Q Comp peer review, Buffalo Schools request to co-op dance, and interest in Elm Street property; HS Prin Matt Schoen reported on E2020 on-line interactive program, posted math position, working on staffing & scheduling, on line parent survey and students going to China; MS Prin Rene Klinkner reported on Project Lead the Way, Math Masters and parent orientation; ES Prin Darren Schuler reported on conferences, kindergarten roundup, a lyceum on bullying and parent involvement night at Coburn’s; CE Dir. Diane Johnson reported on summer planning and Community Theater; Dir. Of Bus Affairs Sarah Miller reported on gas consumption and Health & Safety issues.
Board heard reports from board members regarding MAWSECO, Wright Technical Center, Community Education, Curriculum Advisory Council and Staff Development.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Board reviewed proposed budget adjustments for 2009-10
NEW BUSINESS
1. Board approved removing class rank from transcripts.
2. Board approved extended field trip for Spanish class.
