Regular Meeting of the Board of Education
Independent School District 879, Delano Public Schools
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, September 28, 2009, in Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7:00 PM with the following members in attendance: Douglas, Schaust, Johnson, Milano, Seguin, Nelson and Brasket. Absent: None
REPORTS AND INFORMATION FROM SCHOOL SOURCES
Board heard program report on Activities Programs.
OATH OF OFFICE TO NEWLY APPOLINTED BOARD MEMBER and ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 8-24-09, special meeting minutes of 8-26-09 and 9-15-09, the current budget status with year to date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements; and donations.
PERSONNEL
Board approved employment of .DMS .56 FTE Spec Ed/LD Teacher, DES Grade 4 Teacher, DES Food Service replacement, DHS/DMS Food Service worker; DES Long Term Sub Custodian, and Asst Girls & Boys Basketball Coaches; Contract lane changes; and two Family Leaves of Absence and Food Serv Dir. Contract for 2009-11.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Supt. Sweet reported on state of the schools, H1N1update, Project Lead the Way, and DAEF; ES Prin Darren Schuler reported on open house , MAP testing, PIE fundraiser and Substitute teacher orientation, MS Prin Renee Klinkner reported on Food Service meals and MS schedules, utilization of MS building, and testing; HS Prin Matt Schoen reported on Blue Ribbon School Award and Nat. Merit finalist; and CE Dir. Diane Johnson’s report is on-line.
Board heard reports from board members regarding MAWSECO, Wright Technical Center, Community Educ Advisory Council, Curriculum Advisory Council, Schools for Equity in Education, Delano Area Sports Arena, Safe Schools Staff Dev. and Site Based.

SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
October 8, 2009
Independent School District #879, Delano, Minnesota
Call to order at 6:00 p.m. by Peter Brasket, chair.
Members present: Becky Schaust, Tim Douglas, Peter Brasket, Carolyn Milano, Lisa Seguin, Sam Nelson and Amy Johnson. Absent: none.
A special meeting was set for October 8, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the high school conference room to continue discussions for the purpose of conducting board member orientation; reviewed committee structure; policies pertaining to the board; the financial status of the school district; the operating levy and when to renew it and for how much; future bond issues to address the capacity issues of the buildings; joint survey with the City of Delano; a joint meeting with the Rockford School Board to meet with legislators; community forums to inform the public about financial and building space needs; and contract negotiations.
Motion by C Milano, Seconded by T Douglas to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 p.m. Motion carried 7-0.

CITY OF DELANO
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
JANITIORIAL 3 YEAR CONTRACT
The City of Delano is accepting proposals until November 19, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. for a three (3) year contract for Janitorial service for the Delano City Hall/Senior Center, Delano Public Library, and Delano Community Center. Contact City Hall at 763-972-0550 for a formal request for proposal (RFP) documentation.

Notice of Public Hearing
Notice is hereby given that the City Council will hold a public hearing on the 17th day of November, 2009 after the hour of 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at 6390 Town Hall Drive, Greenfield, Minnesota. The purpose of the public hearing shall be to consider and possibly adopt special assessments for a street improvement project on the 69th Lane and 69th Avenue T.H. 55 frontage road. The total cost of the project is $26,448.84, all of which is proposed to be assessed to two parcels: PIN 28-119-24-33-0009 and 28-119-24-33-0010.
Persons wishing to comment should appear at the hearing or address their written comments to the City of Greenfield, 7738 Commerce Circle, Greenfield, MN, 55373. Materials relating to this hearing, including the proposed assessment roll, are available for review at the address above.

The total cost of the project is $23,847.09, all of which is proposed to be assessed to two parcels: PIN 29-119-24-41-0039 and 29-119-24-44-0008.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
CITY OF GREENFIELD
GREENFIELD, MINNESOTA
NOTICE OF PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER A VARIANCE REQUEST
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 pm on December 8, 2009 at the City Council Chambers located at 6390 Town Hall Drive to consider a Variance Request for the construction of an alternative septic system. The proposed septic system will require a Variance Request according to Section 50.07 and 50.093 of the City’s Zoning Code.
Copies of the Variance Request will be available to the public upon request. All persons appearing at said hearing with reference to the above will be given the opportunity to be heard at this meeting.
