MINUTES Regular Meeting of the Board of EducationIndependent School District 879, Delano Public Schools
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, November 23, 2009, in Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7:00 PM with the following members in attendance: Douglas, Schaust, Johnson, Milano, Bodin, Seguin and Brasket. Absent: None
REPORTS AND INFORMATION FROM SCHOOL SOURCES
Board heard program report on the China Club.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 10-26-09, special meeting minutes of 11-9-09 and 11-16-09, the current budget status with year to date adjustments, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements; and donations.
PERSONNEL
Board approved resignation of DHS para., employment of a DES Playground Asst, DMS Para, Asst. Varsity Girls Basketball Coach , Gr. 7and Gr. 8 Girls Basketball Coaches, MS Special Educ Teacher .5 FTE and MS Gymnastics coach; contract approvals for Food Service, DES para’s hours increase and an unpaid medical leave of absence.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Supt. Sweet reported on emergency school closing info, state of the schools finances and building capacities and DAEF Gala date, ES Prin Darren Schuler’s report is on the web; MS Prin Renee Klinkner was absent; HS Prin Matt Schoen reported on District In Service and Nov. 25th Workshop schedule; Dir of Bus Affairs Sarah Miller reported on financial affairs and CE Director Diane Johnson reviewed the CE 2009-10 Improvement Plan.
Board heard reports from board members regarding MAWSECO, Wright Technical Center, Community Educ Advisory Council, Curriculum Advisory Council, Schools for Equity in Education, Delano Area Sports Arena, Safe Schools Staff Dev. and City/School Task Group.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Debrief on meeting with legislators
2. Approved Policy 208 – Development, Adoption and Implementation of Policies and policy409, Employee Presentations, Instructional Materials, Inventions and Creations.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Approved resolution limiting open enrollment for 2010-11.
2. Approve revisions to Policy #515 – Protection and Privacy of Pupil Records
3. Approve snow removal contract
The meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m. The preceding is a summary of the official minutes. State of the School’s Finances and Building Capacities
Call to order at 7:00 p.m. by Peter Brasket, chair.
Members present Becky Schaust, Tim Douglas, Peter Brasket, Carolyn Milano, Lisa Seguin, Joy Bodin and Amy Johnson. Absent: none.
A special meeting was held. at Delano City Hall for the State of the School’s Finances and Building Capacities public forum. The Delano School Board held this public forum to keep the public current on the status of school funding during these very challenging economic times.

1. Call to order at 6:15 p.m. by chair Peter Brasket
Members present: Becky Schaust, Carolyn Milano, Tim Douglas, Peter Brasket, Amy Johnson, Lisa Seguin and Joy Bodin.
2. The board held a debriefing discussion on the State of the School’s Finances and Building Capacities public forum held Monday, November 30, 2009.
3. B Schuast moved, T Douglas seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
