City of CokatoResolution No. 2010-19Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ordinance No. 07-2010 by title and summary
WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Cokato has adopted Ordinance No. 07-2010, ann ordinance amending the city’s code of ordinances regarding junk, abandoned and unauthorized vehicles and traffic and parking regulations; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes §412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and
WHEREAS, the ordinance is 13 pages in length; and
Whereas, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Cokato that the city clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 07-2010 to be publishing in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance:
Public Notice
The city council of the city of Cokato has adopted Ordinance No. 07-2010, an ordinance amending the city’s code of ordinances regarding junk, abandoned and unauthorized vehicles and traffic and parking regulations. The amendment affects chapters 32, 70 and 92 of the code of ordinances by reorganizing those chapters and correcting and updating certain provisions. Statutory definitions of junk, abandoned and unauthorized vehicles have been adopted. Certain parking regulations have been clarified and a new provision has been added which prohibits parking and vehicle, motorized or non-motorized, on a public street or highway for longer than 72 hours. Vehicles in violation of any parking restriction, including the ban on 72-hour street parking, will be subject to impoundment and disposal in accordance with state law. Restrictions on parking recreational vehicles and semi-tractor trailers in residential areas have been added. The full text of Ordinance No. 07-2010 is available for inspection at the Cokato city hall during regular business hours.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Cokato that the city clerk keep a copy of the ordinance in her office at the city hall for public inspection and that she post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the city.

WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes §412.191, and subd. 4, allows publication by title summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and
WHEREAS, the ordinance is 8 pages in length; and
WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Cokato that the city clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 08-2010 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance:
Public Notice
The city council of the city of Cokato has adopted Ordinance No. 08-2010, an ordinance regarding the registration and regulation of vacant buildings. The ordinance mandates the registration of all vacant buildings by the property owner or responsible party within 30 days of the building becoming vacant. If the owner fails to register the vacant building it can be registered administratively by the city. The ordinance requires the owner or responsible party to develop a property plan to address utilities, nuisances, interior and exterior maintenance and a timetable to return the building to occupancy. In the case of a non-cooperative owner, the ordinance provides that the city can abate or correct the nuisance violations and recover its costs by means of a special assessment. The ordinance provides limited exemptions for snowbirds and in the case of casualty damage. The full text of Ordinance No. 08-2010 is available for inspection at the Cokato city hall during regular business hours.

Notice of Public HearingOrdinance Amendment for Fees & Permit Schedule for 2011
Notice is hereby given the Cokato City Council, Wright County, Minnesota will conduct a public hearing on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 7 p.m. to consider an Ordinance Amendment for Fees & Permit Schedule for 2011.
Persons wishing to be heard regarding this Ordinance Amendment will have an opportunity to do so at the public hearing. Written comments may be presented at any time prior to the council meeting.

Filing for Dassel Township offices will open on Monday, January 3, 2011 and will be closed on January 17, 2011. Filings are open for one supervisor for a 3-year term and one treasurer for a 2-year term. File at the Township Clerk’s office at 650 Park Avenue West – Dassel, MN. Candidate’s withdrawal date is on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.
