Notice of Application for Livestock Feedlot Permit
Notice is hereby given per Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 215, that Krienke Dairy has made application to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the County of McLeod for a permit to construct or expand a feedlot with a capacity of 500 animal units or more.
The existing and/or proposed feedlot will be located in the SW one-quarter of Section 29 in Winsted Township of McLeod County.
The feedlot will include the following:
1. A; Existing 94’x144’ partial confinement barn and open lot.
2. A; Existing 24’x140’ partial confinement barn and open lot.
3. A; Existing 16’x24’ partial confinement barn and open lot.
4. A; Existing 24’x60’ partial confinement barn and open lot.
5. A; Existing 56’x64’ total confinement barn.
6. A; Existing 52’x90’ partial confinement barn and open lot.
7. A; Existing 34’x106’ partial confinement barn and open lot.
8. A; 50’x50’x8’ concrete manure storage structure.
9. A; 62’ Diameter x 14’ high fiberglass-lined steel tank (slurry store)
10. A; Existing 94’x110’ partial confinement barn and open lot.
11. A; Existing 51’x80’ total confinement barn
The proposed modifications are construction of one HDPE/Cohesive Soil composite lined manure storage pond (340’x250’x18’), one liquid tight reinforced concrete lined settling pond (180’x90’x10’), two liquid tight reinforced concrete manure storage pits (114’30’x8’ each), and one two-stage concrete sand lane sand recovery system (86’x12’ each stage). Runoff from the outdoor concrete feedlot shall be collected and incorporated into the manure storage system. Manure is to be stored onsite and later field applied according to an approved nutrient management plan.
The existing animal units will remain the same, which is 786 Animal Units, including up to 380 dairy cows>1000 pounds, 140 dairy cattle <1000 pounds, 140 dairy heifers and 80 dairy calves.
This publication shall constitute as notice to each resident and each owner of real property wthin 5,000 feet of the perimeter of the proposed feedlot as required by Minnesota State Law.
