The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7:04 PM with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Baker, Seguin, Durick, Brasket, Milano and Black. Absent: None
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
PROGRAM REVIEW – Mary Cecconi, Parents United: Public School Policy and Politics
Mary Cecconi, Executive Director of Parents United, gave a presentation on public school policy and politics – “Why MN public school funding is where it is right now and how politics has affected that funding.”
Resolution relating to renewing and increasing the general education revenue of the School District and calling an election
The Board proposed to ask for a renewal of the current $426 operating levy and an additional increase of $325. Motion was amend resolution to make passage of question 2 contingent upon passage of question 1; this motion was passed 4-3. Motion to adopt resolution with amended change was passed unanimously.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 5-21-12, workshop meeting minutes of 6-4-12 and 6-20-12, the current budget status with year to date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements; and donations.

Board approved resignations of DHS Spec Ed EBD Teacher, PT DES PE/DAPE Teacher, DMS Grade 6 Teacher, 7th Gr Girls Basketball, Jr High Math League, DES Kindergarten Teacher, District Substitute Caller, 7th Gr Volleyball Coach, Grade 7/8 Track Coach, TKC Paraprofessional, DSH Asst Boys Soccer Coach, DHS Asst Gymnastics Coach and termination of TKC Teacher; Recommendations of employment for DHS Math Long-term Substitute, 2 DES Grade 1 Teachers, DMS Grade 6 Teacher, DMS Spec Ed Teacher, DMS Math Teacher, 9th Gr Volleyball Coach, Jr Girls Tennis Coach, DSH Asst Boys Soccer, TAC Gymnastics Aide, TAC Lifeguard, TAC Lifeguard/WSI, TKC Teacher, 2 Seasonal TKC Teachers, TKC Substitute Student Aide, TKC Student Aide and ESY Summer School Paraprofessionals; Contract changes and approvals for 2012-14 Early Childhood Programs Manager, 2012-14 CE Director, 2012-14 CE Employee Handbook, 2012-14 Business Manager Contract, 2012-14 Accountant and Human Resources/Payroll Coordinator Employment Agreements, 2012-14 Health Office Professionals (RN)/Assistants (LPN) Labor Agreement, 2012-13 Memorandum of Agreement with District Nurse, 2012-13 Memorandum of Agreement with Asst Principal on Special Assignment, DES Kindergarten position transfer, DES Spec Ed Teacher assignment change, DMS Spec Ed Teacher assignment change, DMS Grade 6 assignment change, DES Custodian moved to full-time, and 2011-12 Administrative Performance Pay.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Supt. Sweet reflected back on his seven years with Delano Public Schools; MS Prin R Klinkner reported on self-assessment of 2011-2012 school year; HS Prin M Schoen introduced the new HS Principal, Steve Heil; ES Prin D Schuler reported on the Literacy Plan that was developed; Bus Mgr reported on AESOP, the new automated substitute caller system; and CE Dir reported on upcoming events.
Board heard reports from bd members regarding MAWSECO, Wright Technical Ctr, Community Educ Advisory Council, Curriculum Advisory Council, Schools for Equity in Educ., Delano Area Sports Arena, Safe Schools, Staff Dev., and City/School Task Group.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Final reading revisions to eleven policies
NEW BUSINESS
1. Adopt budget for fiscal year 2012-2013
2. Adopt Health and Safety budgets for FY12 thru FY14
3. Revisions to Delano Elementary and Middle School Handbooks
4. Bread and Milk quotes
5. Set lunch and breakfast prices for 2012-13
The meeting adjourned at 10:13 p.m. The preceding is a summary of the unofficial minutes. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the MONTROSE Planning and Zoning Commission meeting which begins at 7:00 pm, a public hearing will be held at the MONTROSE Community Center to consider the revocation of a conditional use permit for property address 300 Zephyr Avenue, Montrose, MN. 55363
All persons interested are invited to attend said hearing and be heard on this matter.
