CITY OF DELANO NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Delano Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 234 2nd Street North on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the parties may be heard, to consider amendments to Section 51.03 (General Provisions), of the Delano City Code pertaining to Metal Finishes and Fasters in accordance to architectural design standards to industrial and commercial structures within the City.

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, October 22, 2012, at Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7:02 PM with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Baker, Brasket, Milano, Seguin, Durick and Black. Absent: None.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
PROGRAM REVIEW – Schools for Equity in Education, Deb Griffiths
Deb Griffiths gave presentation on Schools for Equity in Education and how the organization is trying to help all districts receive equal funding so all students have the same educational opportunities.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 9-24-12, the current budget status with year to date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.
PERSONNEL (approved unanimously)
Board approved resignations of 7th Grade Softball Coach, 9th Grade Baseball Coach, and termination of TAC Recreation Programs Coordinator; Recommendations of employment for two DMS Spec Ed Paraprofessionals, Head Girls Golf Coach, DMS Math Coach, DES Long-term Substitute Paraprofessional, DMS/DHS Long-term Substitute Paraprofessional, DMS Long-term Substitute Paraprofessional, TAC Gymnastics Teacher and TAC Gymnastics Aide; Contract changes and approvals for DHS 30 Hr PT Custodian to 40 Hr, 2012-2014 Admin Assistant Agreement and 2012-2014 Custodian Agreement; Leaves of Absences for DMS Paraprofessional, DME 2nd Grade Job-Share Teacher, and JV Softball Coach.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Mr. Schoen reported on meeting at Resource Training & Solutions regarding School Reform and Funding in MN; MS Principal presented the 2012-2013 School Improvement Plan, HS Principal presented the 2012-2013 School Improvement Plan; ES Principal presented the 2012-2013 School Improvement Plan; Bus Mgr reported that the election notices went out in the mail and were published and audit will be presented at November’s meeting; and CE Dir presented the Continuous Improvement Plan.
Board heard reports from board members regarding MAWSECO, Wright Technical Ctr, Community Educ Advisory Council, Curriculum Advisory Council, Safe Schools and Staff Development.
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
1. Approval of the Q-Comp program and goals for the 2012-2013 school year
2. Set date and time to canvass votes: Monday, November 12, 2012, at 5:30 PM in Delano High School Conference Room
3. Accept quotes and approve vendor for 2012-2014 snow plowing (2-year contract): Vendor approved was 4.0 Services

SCHOOL DISTRICT BALL QUESTION NO. 2
APPROVAL OF ADDITIONAL DISTRICTREFERENDUM REVENUE AUTHORIZATION

The Board of Independent School District No. 879, Delano, has proposed to increase its referendum revenue authorization by $325 per pupil if Ballot Question No. 1 is approved. The amount shall increase annually by the rate of inflation. The proposed referendum revenue authorization would be applicable for ten (10) years unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law.
