NOTICE OF HEARING ON IMPROVEMENT
FOR 2013 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Notice is hereby given that the City Council of Dassel will meet at the Dassel City Hall, 460 Third Street, Dassel, Minnesota, at 7:00 p.m. on February 19, 2013, to consider street and utility improvements on the following streets:
William Avenue: from Fifth Street to Guy Street
Fourth Street: from Parker Avenue to William Avenue
Guy Street (Easement): from north of Horace Avenue to Lake Street
Maple Street: north of William Avenue
Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Sections 429.011 to 429.111. The area proposed to be assessed for such improvements are the properties abutting on such streets. The estimated cost of the improvements is $778,400.00. Such persons as desire to be heard with reference to the proposed improvements will be heard at this meeting.

I.S.D. #466, BOARD OF EDUCATION
7:00 PM REGULAR BOARD MEETING, JANUARY 24, 2013 DASSEL-COKATO BOARD ROOM
In partnership with our communities, Dassel-Cokato Public Schools will provide all learners opportunities designed to maximize their potential and promote lifelong learning.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Thursday, January 24, 2013.
Chairman Bjork called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
The following members were present: Clemen, Tormanen, McConkey, Bjork, Linder, and Bender. The following were absent: none. Members of the administration and public were also present.
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Tormanen, accepting the agenda as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Kelsie Sterner received the December Russell A. Johnson Courtesy and Respect Award, daughter of Kenneth and Patty Sterner of Dassel.
Motion by Linder, seconded by McConkey, approving payment of bills as presented including payroll, hand payables and contingency totaling $1,821,339.11. Motion carried unanimously. (A complete list of bills is available from the District Office for review.)

Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC) Report: None
Technology Report: None
MAWSECO Report: Vice Chair Tormanen reported on the 1/22/13 meeting which included: reorganization, staffing, staff reports, and review of revenue received.
Community Education Report: None
Business Manager’s Report: Business Manager Palmer reported expenditures are in line with budget through the end of the seventh month of the fiscal year and reviewed the investment report with the board. Business Manager Palmer reported to the board regarding what the district has learned about health care reform. Business Manager Palmer also informed the board the district’s application for the additional $0.06 per lunch reimbursement under the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act has been approved.
Superintendent’s Report – Superintendent Powers reported on: Governor Dayton’s education proposal, Irene Benders election to the RTS Board, and an upcoming Feb. 1 meeting with local legislators.

Student Report – Student Representative Abrahamson reported on: winter activities, snow week, registrations and other events.
Community Education / Activities Report: Director Thinesen reported on: Adapted bowling, Athletic and Fine Arts Halls of Fame, Scholarships for activities fees, Wright County Conference, and Preschool.
Motion by Clemen, seconded by Linder approving all consent items, which included approval of the minutes from the December 10, 2012 Special Board Meeting, December 20, 2012 Regular Board Meeting, and the January 7, 2013 Special Reorganizational Meeting. Approval of Wire transfers made on December 20th for $100,000, December 31st for $650,000, January 4th for $1,500,000, January 7th for $994,000, January 11th for $115,000 and January 15th for $750,000. Personnel Items: Approval of Personnel Items: Approved lane changes for Carolyn Berggren from BA+15 to BA+30 effective 1/1/2013, Christine Bickmann from MA+15 to MA+30 effective 1/1/2013, Cole Flick from BA+15 to BA+30 effective 1/1/2013, Termination of contract with Megan Terning as a Cokato Elementary Paraeducator effective 1/12/2013, Request for approval of an unpaid medical leave of absence for Patsy Isaacson, Cokato Elementary Paraeducator for up to 6 weeks beginning approximately 1/28/2013. Acceptance of Donations: From Cokato Dairy Queen - $157.50 to Cokato Elementary, From Cokato Dairy Queen - $157.50 to Dassel Elementary andFrom DC Music Boosters, Inc. - $8,760.65 for the purchase of a band trailer. Motion carried unanimously.
The board briefly reviewed factors to consider while developing the 2013-14 Operating Levy.
Motion by Linder, seconded by Bender, authorizing Business Manager Palmer to sell the vocational house. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by McConkey, seconded by Tormanen approving the 2012 Pay Equity Report. Motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent Powers reviewed building security issues including the need to move to more controlled access in each of the buildings. After some discussion the board voiced approval of the concept.
Motion by Linder, seconded by Bender, supporting a form B/C application to the MSHSL Foundation. Motion carried unanimously.
The February 11, 2013 Special Board Meeting Agenda will include operating levy and a recap of the 2013 MSBA Winter Conference.
Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.

ISD 466 Call for Bids
On Vocational House
VOCATIONAL HOUSE: Bids will be accepted until Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 3:00 pm CDT for the purchase of a three bedroom, 30x50 or 1,500 sq. ft. home constructed by Dassel-Cokato vocational carpentry students. Minimum bid is $36,000 plus MN Sales Tax, which is currently 6.875% for a total of $38,475. Features include:
• Maintenance free metal sofit and facia
• Maintenance free certainteed vinyl siding
• Andersen High Performance windows
• Electrical wiring performed by Lite Electric, Inc.
• Insulation is blown fiberglass with walls having R-23 and ceilings R-44, under the care of Ricky’s Insulation
• Plumbing roughed in by Opsahl Plumbing and Heating of Dassel
All necessary inspections have been completed by the MN Department of Labor and Industry. The home may be viewed by contacting Steve Ellis at D-C High School. All Bids must be submitted to Tina Palmer, Business Manager, ISD #466, 4852 Reardon Ave SW, Suite 1700, Cokato, MN 55321 and clearly marked “Vocational House Bid”.
All bids must state the bid price with an addition of the applicable state sales tax and the total of the bid plus tax. All bids must be accompanied by a cashier’s check payable to ISD #466 in the amount of 5% of the bid. This bid security will be kept by the district as liquidated damages in the event the high bidder does not purchase the house. The District reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any or all bids. The successful bidder must pay for the house by February 28, 2013 or forfeit bid security.
The house must be removed from school property by August 9, 2013, otherwise penalties will apply. Bids will be opened at 3:00 pm CDT, February 20, 2013 in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room and tabulated for the Board of Education consideration on Thursday, February 28, 2012, at 7:00 pm.
