NOTICE FRENCH LAKE TOWNSHIP
French Lake Township residents can sign up for dust control on gravel roads. The roads are scheduled to be sprayed on June 14th, 2013. The policy is for a minimum of 100’ with the township paying for the first 50’ of application. The cost this year is $.50 cents per foot with an 18’ wide travel surface. Please mail your check to the Clerk. Also please mark off the distance to be sprayed.

9:19 PM EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING, MAY 14, 2013 DASSEL-COKATO BOARD ROOM
In partnership with our communities, Dassel-Cokato Public Schools will provide all learners opportunities designed to maximize their potential and promote lifelong learning.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, an emergency meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Tuesday, April 14, 2013.
Board Chairman Bjork called the meeting to order at 9:19 PM.
The following members were present: Bjork, Clemen, Tormanen, Linder, McConkey and Bender. The following were absent: none. Superintendent Powers was also present.
Motion by McConkey, seconded by Linder, accepting the agenda as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Member Bender introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION RELATING TO CONDUCTING A REFERENDUM REVENUE AUTHORIZATION ELECTION IN 2013
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD of Independent School District No. 466, State of Minnesota, as follows:
1. The Board hereby declares its intent to hold a Referendum Revenue Authorization election in 2013 pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section126C.17.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Clemen and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Bjork, Linder, Tormanen, Clemen, Bender, McConkey and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:24 PM.

In partnership with our communities, Dassel-Cokato Public Schools will provide all learners opportunities designed to maximize their potential and promote lifelong learning.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Monday, April 13, 2013.
Board Chairman Bjork called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
The following members were present: Bjork, Clemen, Tormanen, Linder, McConkey and Bender. The following were absent: none. Members of the administration and public were also present.
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Clemen, accepting the agenda as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Students from Dassel Elementary and the middle school reported to the board regarding their schools including like and dislikes. The board asked questions.
Business Manager Palmer presented the 2013-14 Capital Plan for a first reading.
Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM.

Notice for Tar Replacement
Kingston Township board is interested in quotes to replace approximately mile of tar on 318th St. Tar will be replaced starting at CSAH 19 going east for approximately mile. The township board is looking into milling and/or reclaiming 3.5 inches of new bituminous. 7:00 PM REGULAR BOARD MEETING, APRIL 25, 2013 DASSEL-COKATO BOARD ROOM
In partnership with our communities, Dassel-Cokato Public Schools will provide all learners opportunities designed to maximize their potential and promote lifelong learning.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
Chairman Bjork called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
The following members were present: Tormanen, McConkey Bjork, Linder, Clemen and Bender. The following were absent: none. Members of the administration and public were also present.
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Clemen, accepting the agenda as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Hannah Thinesen received the March Russell A. Johnson Courtesy and Respect Award, daughter of Perry and Joyce Thinesen of Cokato.
The FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team gave a demonstration.
Motion by Linder, seconded by McConkey, approving payment of bills as presented including payroll, hand payables and contingency totaling $2,120,255.28. Motion carried unanimously. (A complete list of bills is available from the District Office for review.)
Communications/Open Forum: None
Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC) Report: Board Member Linder reported on the 422 meeting a report on curriculum changes made necessary by changes in the social studies standards.
Technology Report: None
MAWSECO Report: Vice Chair Tormanen reported on the 3/26 and 4/23 meetings which included: Journey, Trek, Funding, Teacher Negotiations, Resignation of the Director, and Changes to the Calendar.
Community Education Report: None
Business Manager’s Report: Business Manager Palmer reported expenditures are in line with budget through the end of the tenth month of the fiscal year and reviewed the investment report with the board.
Superintendent’s Report – Superintendent Powers reported on: U.S. News and World Report ranking DCHS as the 20th best high school in MN, Controlled Access, Snow Days, and Wednesday Events.
SEE – Board Clerk Bender reported on the SEE lobbying efforts.
Student Report – Student Representative Abrahamson reported on: spring activities, All-State Choir and Band, MCAs, Senior Seminar
Bike Trail – Board Clerk Bender reported that the committee is intending to finish some seal coating of driveway entrances.
Motion by Tormanen, seconded by Clemen, approving all consent items, which included approval of the minutes from the March 19, 2013 Regular Board Meeting and the April 8, 2013 Special Meeting.
Approval of Wire transfers made on March 22nd for $100,000, March 28th for $575,000, April 10th for $360,000, April 12th for $775,000 and April 18th for $75,000. Personnel Items: Approval of a lane change for Jacob Stang from BA+15 to BA+30 and Angela Lauderbaugh from MA to MA+15, Resignation of Wendy Halonen as a Cokato Elementary Title 1Paraeducator effective 4/12/2013, Resignation/Retirement of Mary Ann Larson as the Media Paraeducator at Cokato Elementary effective 6/7/2013, Resignation of Janel Sherk as a Dassel Elementary Special Needs Paraeducator effective 6/5/2013, Resignation/Retirement of Barb Quast as the Middle School Lead Cook effective 6/6/2013, Resignation/Retirement of Gilbert Anderson as the District’s Mail/Lunch Driver effective 6/7/2013, Resignation of Aimee Gabrielson as a Preschool Teacher in the Dassel-Cokato Early Childhood Center at the end of the school year, Resignation of Sarah Terpstra as a Cokato Elementary Part-Time School Social Worker at the end of the school year, Resignation of Kelly Kosloski as the HS Business Education Teacher at the end of the school year, Request approval of an unpaid child care leave of absence for Kristin Glur for the 2013-2014 school year, Request Approval of an unpaid medical leave for Janel Ryynanen retroactive to 4/3/2013 through 4/30/2013, Request approval of up to 12 weeks FMLA for Jennifer Bertram beginning approximately August 26, 2013 through November 15, 2013 for the birth of a child, Request approval of an unpaid child care leave from November 18, 2013 through December 31, 2013 for Jennifer Bertram, Request for unpaid child care leave for Annette Bohnsack beginning approximately 5/10/2013, Retirement/Resignation of Daniel Kyllonen as High School Industrial Tech/Ag Instructor at the end of the school year, Retirement/Resignation of Barbara Holly as the Dassel Elementary Health Assistant and Special Need Paraeducator effective 6/6/2013, Employment of Katie Quaas as a Teacher for the Play and Learn Preschool starting with 2013-2014 school year. Acceptance of Donations: From Dennis Abernathy – 7 pole vaults to the track program, From Wells Fargo Foundation - $10 to Dassel Elementary and From Cokato American Legion Post No. 209 - $200 to the marching band program. Motion carried unanimously.
The board discussed polling places for the Fall 2013 Operating Levy and decided to utilize Dassel and Cokato City Halls.
The following resolution was passed for: Jordann Nelson, A Probationary Teacher at the Middle School, Jill Oeffling, A Probationary Teacher at Cokato Elementary, Rebecca Vossen-Mathies, A Probationary Teacher at Cokato Elementary, a .50 FTE Teaching Contract of Sara Binsfeld, A Probationary Teacher at Dassel Elementary, Dennis Abernathy, A Probationary Teacher at the High School, Neil Schlagel, A Probationary Teacher at the High School, Kim Ortloff, A Probationary Teacher in the High School, a .33 FTE Teaching Contract of Jessica Trost, A Probationary Teacher in the High School.
Member McConkey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:

AND NONRENEWAL OF THE TEACHING CONTRACT

WHEREAS, ______________ is a probationary teacher in Independent School District No.466.
BE IT RESOLVED, by the School Board of Independent School District No. 466 that pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 122A.40, Subdivision 5, that the teaching contract of _____________________, a probationary teacher in Independent School District No.466, is hereby terminated at the close of the current 2012 - 2013 school year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that written notice be sent to said teacher regarding termination and non-renewal of their contract as provided by law, and that said notice shall be in substantially the following form:

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Tormanen and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: McConkey, Tormanen, Bender, Bjork, Clemen, Linder and the following voted against the same: None. Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
Motion by Clemen, seconded by Bender, accepting a bid for the 12-13 vocational house of $37,500, plus Minnesota sales tax, from Leo Engels. Motion carried unanimously.
The May 13, 2013 Special Board Meeting Agenda will include student reports and a first reading of the 13-14 Capital Plan.

Kingston Township Swimming lessons
Kingston Township will be holding Swimming lessons on July 8 – 19 from 12:00 till 3:30 at the Watkins pool. Any interested Kingston township residents/property owner is eligible for this program. To sign up call township clerk 320-398-8400 before June 25. There will not be any sign up for Kingston Township through the Watkins pool.
