NOTICE OF FILING FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to those persons who wish to file for the office of City Council to be voted on in the City Election on November 4, 2014 should file with the Office of the City Clerk such intentions and pay the regular filing fee of $2.
The first day of filing is Tuesday, July 29, 2014, opening time 7:30 am. The last day of filing is Tuesday, August 12, 2014 closing time 5:00 pm.
The following will be voted on:
Mayor (4-year term)
Two City Council Members (4-year terms)
The terms of Mayor Dale Graunke will expire December 31, 2014, and City Council Members Dan Vick and Derek Schansberg will expire December 31, 2014. Those elected on November 4th will begin their duties the first business day of 2015 and continue through the last business day of December 2018.

Regular Meeting of the Board of Education
Independent School District 879, Delano Public Schools
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, June 23, 2014, at Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 5:45 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Milano, Durick, Baker, Black and Seguin. Larson was absent.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the meeting agenda with the addition of Item G, Resolution for Updating School District Population for Community Education under New Business.
Board reviewed discussion items: Teacher Evaluation Tool, Strategic Plan Year 1 Update, Classified Employee Contracts, Principal Contracts and FY15 Budget.

CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 5-19-14, the current budget status with year-to-date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Superintendent Schoen reported on 5 Year Strategic Plan and announcement of Delano Public Schools ranking of number one by ZipRealty for Best Places for Families to Live: Top Districts with Most Affordable Housing. Ms. Klinkner reported on DMS Student Handbook, 2014-15 school highlights, hiring for assistant principal and DMS test score rank improvement from 2007 to 2014. Dr. Heil reported on graduation, grant received from the Central Minnesota Arts Board, teacher evaluation tool, funds raised on Red, White and Blue Jean Day, and DHS Veteran Memorial Wall. Mr. Schuler reported on DES Student Handbook, DES May activities, DES classroom configuration, summer school, Tiger Drive resurfacing and 2013-14 highlights. M. Reeder reported on 2014 legislative session and district audit. D. Johnson reported on CE summer program registration, open 20-hour Reading Corps position, Trailblazer for Transit, Professional Actor Educator 5-Day Workshop. Board heard reports from MAWSECO, Wright Technical Center, Schools for Equity in Education (SEE), and Professional Development.
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
Approved 2014-15 Delano Elementary School Student Handbook, 2014-15 Delano Middle School Student Handbook, Teacher Evaluation Joint Agreement, 2014-15 Original Budget, Current Health & Safety Policy #809, Health and Safety Costs for Fiscal Years 2014, 2015 and 2016, Resolution for Updating School District Population for Community Education.

NOTICE OF FILING DATES FOR ELECTION TO THE SCHOOL BOARD
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 879
DELANO PUBLIC SCHOOLS
STATE OF MINNESOTA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 879 shall begin on July 29, 2014, and shall close at 5:00 o’clock p.m. on August 12, 2014.
The general election shall be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. At that election, four (4) members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four (4) years.
Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk, 700 Elm Avenue East, Delano, MN 55328. The filing fee for this office is $2. A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.
The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o’clock p.m. on August 12, 2014.
