CALL FOR BIDS

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
The City Council of the City of Lester Prairie will receive sealed bids at the office of the City Clerk until noon on Monday, March 31, 2014, for the “Maintenance Shop Building Addition Project”. Separate Bids will be taken for structure and concrete, electrical and HVAC. Bid documents may be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office located at 37 Juniper Street North between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bids shall be directed to the City Clerk’s Office, securely sealed and endorsed upon the outside wrapper stating “Maintenance Garage Building Addition Project”. Engineered stamped drawings must accompany the structure and concrete bid. Immediately following the expiration of the time for receiving bids, the bids will be publicly opened in the council chambers at city hall. The City Council will consider such bids in the council chambers at their April 8th, 2014 meeting at approximately 7:30 p.m. The City Council reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities.

REASON A VARIANCE IS NEEDED: Minimum setbacks are 130’ from centerline of county/state roads and 65’ from centerline of town/local roads. A setback from the dwelling to the sewer system is 20’ and 10’ from a property line. Lot is less than 20,000 sq. ft.; coverage by buildings is limited to 15%. Improvements that exceed 50% of the County Assessor’s value of existing building are considered “new,” construction must meet minimum setbacks.

Applicant is proposing to remove a shed to bring lot coverage within limits.
REASON A VARIANCE IS NEEDED: Minimum setbacks are 75’ from OHM of lake, 15’ from the side property lines for the dwelling, 10’ from side lines for the detached garage and any part of the sewer system. Sewer treatment area and tanks must be 10’ from the garage. Lot is less than 20,000 sq. ft.; coverage by buildings is limited to 15%.
