6:00 PM REGULAR BOARD MEETING, MARCH 27, 2017
DASSEL-COKATO BOARD ROOM
In partnership with our communities, Dassel-Cokato Public Schools will provide all learners opportunities designed to maximize their potential and promote lifelong learning.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Monday, March 27, 2017.
Clemen called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
The following members were present: Clemen, Colberg, Aho, Sangren and Bender. The following were absent: Nelson
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Aho, accepting the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Aho, seconded by Colberg, approving payment of bills as presented including payroll, hand payables and contingency totaling $1,966,183.71. Motion carried unanimously. (A complete list of bills is available from the District Office for review.)
Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC) Report: Written

Business Manager’s Report: Business Manager Palmer reported expenditures are in line with budget through the end of the ninth month of the fiscal year and reviewed the investment report with the board.

Superintendent’s Report – Retreat Recap and Robotics Competition
Motion by Aho, seconded by Colberg, approving all consent items, which included approval of the minutes from the February 27, 2017 Regular Board Meeting. Approval of the wire transfers made on February 28th for $925,000, March 10th for $570,000, and March 15th for $800,000. Personnel items: Approval of a lane changes for Amanda Spires from BA+30 to BA+45 and for Ronald Schultz from BA to BA+15, Approve employment of Tracy Nelson as the Agricultural Educator and FFA Advisor effective 7/1/2017 for the 2017-2018 school year, Approve assignment of Eric Pokornowski as the JV Baseball Coach, Approve employment of Jason Miller as a part-time ALC/Cokato Elementary custodian effective 3/7/17, Approve re-employment of Emily Lawrence as a Cokato elementary special needs paraeducator effective 3/1/2017, Approval of up to 12 weeks FMLA Leave for Angela Lauderbaugh beginning approximately 8/28/17. Acceptance of Donations From Dairy Queen - $276 to Dassel Elementary, Dairy Queen - $276 to Cokato Elementary, Gary Larson – $400 for a Middle School
presenter on immigration, Lions Club of Cokato-Dassel - $250 for Middle School activity day bussing, an anonymous donor - $100 to Community Education, American Time & Signal - $250 to Competitive Cheer program, Dassel Fire Relief Association - $200 to Competitive Cheer program, DC NHS Booster Club - $448 for Washington DC trip, City of Dassel, Red Rooster Day - $200 to the Marching Band program, Nesseth Chiropractic Clinic, PA - $100 to the Robotics program, JC Fitness, Inc. - $100 to the Robotics program, Rachel Yates & Wells Fargo - $200 to the Music & Athletic programs, Dassel-Cokato Youth Trust - $181.66 towards a curtain for the Performing Arts Center, anonymous donor - $100 to the baseball program, anonymous donor - $50 to the baseball program, anonymous donor - $50 to the baseball program, anonymous donor - $50 to the baseball program, anonymous donor - $150 to the baseball program. Motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent Powers reviewed upcoming CTE events.
The board discussed the Highway 12 sign and decided to increase the size of the display with the necessary repairs.
Motion by Aho, seconded by Sangren, authorizing the Business Manager to sell the vocational house. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Aho, approving spending up to 75% of the 2017-18 budget in 2016-17. Motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent Powers informed the board of the April 15 deadline for The Edward Otto Partner in Public Education Award.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Aho, approving the following Part-time Kindergarten Policy:
• The Part-time Kindergarten class will be capped at 22 with a minimum enrollment of 15.
• If there are more than 22 requests all of the names will be put into a lottery and the first 22 drawn will be enrolled in the class.
• Enrollment of less than 15 will result in the class being canceled. Enrollment will be based upon the results of Kindergarten Round-up. Motion carried unanimously.
Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:58 PM.

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel TECKNOcenter, Dassel, Minnesota, on Thursday, March 31, 2017.
Kyle Ackerman hosted a Town Hall Forum regarding the CTE Bond.
The Town Hall Forum ended at 8:30.

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Monday, April 10, 2017.
Clemen called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
The following members were present: Aho, Clemen, Sangren, Colberg, and Nelson. The following were absent: Bender.
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance.
Clemen closed the meeting at 6:01 for a negotiations strategy session. The meeting was recorded in accordance with state statute.
Clemen reopened the meeting at 7:03.
Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:03 pm.
