Winsted City Council Minutes
JAN. 2, 2001
Present: Gary Lenz, Tom Wiemiller, Don Guggemous, Tom Ollig, Bonnie Quast
Staff: Matt Podhradsky, Betty Zachmann, Mike Henrich, Attorney Eggert
Absent: Floyd Sneer
Deputy Mayor Lenz called the meeting to order. He then gave the Oath of Office to the newly elected Officials in their respective positions.
Mayor Guggemos then began the order of business.
Wiemiller motioned to approve the minutes with a correction of the word "read" to be "rear" . . . yard setbacks, in previous minutes, page 119. Lenz seconded, unanimously carried.
Annual appointments were tabled until next meeting.
Chief Henrich reported Officer Rehmann had completed his probation satisfactorily, and be made a permanent employee, under the personnel code. Ollig motioned to place Officer Scott Rehmann as a permanent full time employee, Quast seconded, unanimously carried.
Council then discussed the old city hall issues. Ollig motioned in the future, that discussion of city hall will only be done when it has been placed on the agenda, and a preservation committee member has been notified in advance. Lenz seconded, unanimously carried.
Ollig then proposed to develop an advertising campaign for one year, and have the Committee involved.
Attorney Eggert had discussion with Attorney George Hoff, Hoff, Barry, Kuderer, regarding the judgement related to the old city hall. It was recommended by both to hold a closed meeting of the city council, to discuss results and options from the Summary Judgement. Since Hoff will not be able to attend, Eggert will preside in his absence. Ollig then motioned to hold a closed meeting on Jan. 16th at 6:30 PM, City Hall, for purposes of discussing the Summary Judgement and options. Quast seconded, unanimously carried.
Ollig motioned to accept the Pay Equity Report of 2001 as presented
Lenz seconded, unanimously carried.
Lenz motioned to adopt the 2001 Rate schedule, converting utility rates to monthly. Ollig seconded, unanimously carried. Schedule will be brought back for signatures at next meeting.
Lenz motioned to pay the following bills:
General 3331-2356 $29,281.65
Fire Dept. 3456-3459 $583.29
Wiemiller seconded, unanimously carried.
Council will hold a Industrial Park work session at a later date.
Quast motioned to adjourn, Ollig seconded, unanimously carried.
