Winsted City Council Minutes


MARCH 16, 1999


7 P.M.

Present: Floyd Sneer, Bob Kegler, Jeff Albers, Tom Wiemiller, Gary Lenz Staff: Aaron Reeves, Betty Zachmann Absent: Attorney Eggert

Mayor called the meeting to order.

Wiemiller motioned to approve the minutes of March 2, 1999, with the correction of names, that being: "Change name of Gary Schott to Mike Larson," Kegler seconded, unanimously carried.

After review of Job Descriptions, Albers motioned to approve and accept the Job Descriptions of the Police Dept. and Maintenance Dept., including normal working hours, Lenz seconded, unanimously carried.

Mike Larson, Police Officer, requested the City Council postpone any decision of the allowance of excercise equipment until the next meeting.

It was noted by Council member Albers that those requests should have followed proper protocol, and that the local private school would be interested in having the equipment and allowing use, and directed Larson to communicate with the school before the next meeting.

It was noted the City will inspect all of its bleachers, using the criteria given by the league of Minn. Cities, and that any adjustments to comply with new State law, will be made by the City.

Lenz motioned to adopt Resolution No. 303-03-16-99, Repealing and abolishing the Minn. Sale Tax for Cities, Kegler seconded, unanimously carried.

Reeves reported that he had been successful in obtaining several grants for the continuing of the Business Retention Program for the City of Winsted

This program will provide in depth assistance to local Businesses and a means of training and technical assistance to make their economy more vibrant. Lenz motioned to continue forward with the program and enter into an agreement with the Univ. of Minn. Extension Service, with the cost of $1,500.00 to the City, Wiemiller seconded unanimously carried.

Kegler motioned to participate in costs of the continuance of the Senior Nutrition Site in the amount of $900.00, in two payments, Lenz seconded, unanimously carried.

The Fire Dept. had requested to purchase a Generator from the DNR, after discussion, Lenz motioned to approve the purchase of the Generator in the amount of $300.00, Wiemiller seconded, unanimously carried.

Albers motioned to approve $500.00 to the Winsted Fire Dept. to provide purchases for the Open House to be held on May 1st, Wiemiller seconded, unanimously carried.

Kegler motioned to pay the following bills:

Checks. 9139-9201 $36,834.68

Payroll 2944-2957 $9,621.73

Fire Dept. 3123-3131 $1,573.48

Lenz seconded, unanimously carried.

Wiemiller motioned to adjourn, Albers seconded, unanimously carried.
