Regular Meeting Sept. 1,1998 City Hall 7:00 PM Present: Don Guggemos, Bob Kegler, Gary Lenz, Bonnie Quast, Attorney Eggert. Absent: Mark Ollig Mayor called the meeting to order. Quast motioned to accept the minutes of Aug. 18th as written, Kegler seconded, unanimously carried. Quast reported on the progress of the Personnel committee in seeking an Administrator. It was decided at the last meeting, due to the fact that the selection was limited, to advertise again, allowing more time for applications, and increase the salary range from $40-$50, plus benefits. The clerk was instructed to advertise in several magazines, and the Star Tribune. Quast motioned to move the civil defense siren from City Rd 5 and 1 to the fire hall site, Kegler seconded, unanimously carried. Attorney Eggert reported that Eugene & Marie Ochu had signed a Petition for Annexation with the City, and some of the aesthetic concerns of the City had been addressed with them. After discussion, Lenz motioned to adopt Resolution No.294-09-01-98, empowering the Mayor and Clerk to sign the Petition, providing the Ochu's execute an agreement to meet all the requirements of the Ordinances, Kegler seconded, unanimously carried. Options for a City Hall were talked about, no action taken. Quast motioned to pay the following bills: Ck Nos. 8469-8499 $134,442.22 Payroll Nos. 2751 -2769 $8,579.99 Fire Dept. Nos. 3016-3019 $679.52 Kegler seconded, unanimously carried. After discussion and review with the Clerk, Lenz motioned to adopt Resolution No. 295-09-01-98, establishing the 1999 Preliminary Tax Levy of: General Fund, Less HACA, $278,500 Bond Funds, Less HACA, $200,000 Total Levy to County Auditor: $478,500 Quast seconded, unanimously carried. Lenz motioned to enter into an Agreement with McLeod County for assessing in 1999 with the amount of $5,927.00, Kegler seconded, unanimously carried. Quast motioned to approve Change Order No. 1, Fire Hall Construction for an additional amount of $321.00, Kegler seconded, unanimously carried. Lenz motioned to approve Change Order No.5, '97 Imp Construction in the additional amount of $1,990.00, Quast seconded, unanimously carried. Lenz motioned to place a promotional ad in the local Community Guidebook for 1998-99, in the amount of $625.00, Kegler seconded, unanimously carried. After discussion, Quast motioned to instruct Attorney Eggert to draw an Ordinance changing the salaries of elected officials to: Mayor Salary, $225 per month Council Salary, $190 per month Special meetings & committee meetings, $25 per meeting Quast motioned to approve a parade permit for Oct. 9th and a Marathon Oct. 10th for Holy Trinity Schools, Lenz seconded, unanimously carried.
