Wright County Board Minutes

OCTOBER 8, 1998

PRESENT: Rose, Russek, Jude, Sawatzke, Groshens, Elmquist, Backes

The Wright County Board met in Emergency Session. The meeting was called to order at 8:31 a.m.

Russek requested approval of a tobacco license for the Quik Shop located in the City of Rockford. The business will open on 10-9-98. Groshens explained that although cities have been notified of the requirement of obtaining licenses through the County, individual business owners may not be aware of the requirement. Discussion followed on potentially delegating authority to the Auditor/Treasurer to approve license requests, with County Board approval following thereafter through the Consent Agenda. Sawatzke referenced a prior motion made where he requested that this issue be addressed. He thought higher fees could be assessed to the applicant if a special meeting is called to approve a license. Russek moved to approve the tobacco license for the Quik Shop, City of Rockford, seconded by Jude, carried 4-0.

Sawatzke moved to refer to the Ways & Means Committee the establishment of a policy and fee schedule for tobacco and liquor license applications. Motion carried 4-0 on a second by Jude.

The meeting adjourned at 8:37 a.m.
