JoLynn Cafferty loves working with beautiful houses

By Kristen Miller, Staff Writer

Houses have always been a passion for JoLynn Cafferty. As a child, she and her family had moved around a lot with the demand of her parents’ careers. Now, Cafferty has made moving a part of her career.

“I know what it entails to move, find a home, and settle in,” Cafferty said.

With her moving experiences and love for architecture, Cafferty went to college and got a degree in architectural drafting.

Now, Cafferty works for Edina Realty out of Delano with an office in her Winsted home.

Her admiration for houses with original woodwork and unique architecture got her interested in realty.

She has now been working in realty for 14 years and enjoys mostly “Finding that right house for the buyer,” she said.

“I pride myself on getting my clients home sold with excellent service,” Cafferty said.

As a Realtor, Cafferty does more than is required. She participates in continuing education and is a certified residential specialist, in which a realtor must have a certain amount of continuing education and sales before even being considered, she said.

“This is a buyers’ market,” Cafferty commented on the July housing market.

For this type of market conditions, houses have to be priced right in order to sell, she explained.

A lot of times, Cafferty educates her sellers on what it will take in order for that particular property to sell, she said.

Also, buyers must know what they must do in order to even begin looking for a home, from qualifying finances to choosing a town, Cafferty explained.

“When I work with buyers, I use my knowledge of the area and my high-energy approach to find the perfect property for every buyer, Cafferty said.

When closing homes, Cafferty likes to work with Stonelake Title Company in Cokato, “I can always count on them to get the job done,” she said.

Cafferty’s days can be quite busy especially with the wide-range of area she covers, and is appreciative of her husband Alan’s support.

“You have to have an understanding spouse in this profession,” she said.

On a more personal side, Cafferty has lived in Winsted for 30 years and raised three daughters with her husband, Alan. She also has five granddaughters with a sixth grandchild on its way.

She enjoys golfing, traveling, and “of course architecture and real estate.”
