Since 1907, Citizens State Bank of Waverly has been serving its surrounding communities with its many unique programs that not all banks can offer.
Citizens State Bank has a team of experienced mortgage lenders who can find the appropriate mortgage to fit the customer’s individual needs. Troy Burau and Cathy Thisius are in the Montrose office, and Ginny Tussing is in Waverly and can provide many types of mortgages and home-improvement loans.
“There isn’t a type of mortgage we don’t do,” said Thisius.
Citizens State Bank allows its customers to be their own general contractor, which saves on closing costs, according to Burau.
Another new product offered is the reverse mortgage for those over 62. This product allows seniors a way to stay in their homes and improve the quality of their lives, Burau said.
They offer a home improvement loan new through the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency with a 110 percent low long-term fixed rate for almost any type of home improvement, Burau explained.
“It’s the best program out there for home improvements,” Thisius said.
This program makes home improvements more affordable for the homeowner, Burau said.
By choosing a local lender such as Citizens State Bank, the customer can work with people they know and trust.
Local lenders are also able to build relationships that make the customers want to come back, Thisius explained.
Citizens State Bank stays active in the community by hosting community block parties, being involved with the Montrose/Waverly Chamber of Commerce, and offering home buyer seminars.
Citizens State Bank will be offering a seminar in October for first-time home owners to learn about the process of obtaining new home financing.
The seminar will be Thursday, October 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Citizens State Bank Montrose Community Room for $5. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 1 by calling Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Community Education office at (320) 543-3600. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served as well.
The community room is also available free for community organizations to meet and is equipped with table, chairs, TV, DVD and VCR.
