In an effort to better provide services to patients, Hutchinson Area Health Care and Hutchinson Medical Center will come together as one entity starting Monday, Oct. 1.
Hutchinson Area Health Care is the organization that operates the hospital in Hutchinson and the Dassel Medical Center, as well as the orthopedic clinic and oncology clinic in Hutchinson, explained Hutchinson Medical Center Administrator Jim Lyons.
Hutchinson Medical Center is currently the physician-owned clinic with more than 150 staff members and 31 health care providers.
“By better utilizing our resources together, we can provide more services locally,” Lyons said, an effort that has been two years in the making.
What this means for the Dassel Medical Center, Lyons explained, is that the clinic will be able to provide additional services that currently aren’t available, including more specialty physicians and care.
The marketing effort is still a work in progress as a name has yet to be chosen for the combined organization.
Lyons said the initial goal, come October, is to transition into the new structure, which will be streamlined for patient convenience, and then begin working on improvements to services.
By streamlining the phone systems and the underlying infrastructure, “our whole goal is to make the experience easier and smoother,” Lyons said.
More announcements are yet to come, Lyons said, and until then patients can depend on business as usual.
