Waverly Lake Association

The Waverly Lake Association is a nonprofit corporation that was formed in the early 1980s. The association’s mission is to promote better fishing, improve water quality, and enhance the natural beauty and enjoyment of Waverly Lake for now and generations to come.

Each year, the Waverly Lake Association has fundraisers to benefit its goals. During Waverly Daze in July, the annual Waverly Daze fishing contest is held. Every other September, the fundraiser dinner with raffles, games, and live music takes place and is another fun way the association raises funds for the lake’s benefit.

The Waverly Lake Association has two general public meetings each spring and fall. Each spring, elections for president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and four board members takes place. Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings and find out the latest status of the lake and upcoming events. Citizens will learn the best ways to protect the lake’s water quality and well-being. The spring and fall newsletter includes this information, as well.

Since 1998, The Waverly Lake Association has participated in the Wright County Cooperative Lake Monitoring Program, in which each month, water clarity is checked and water samples are taken and analyzed in a lab for chlorophyll a (algae) and phosphorus content to detect changes in the lake. In 2003, the Lake Association funded the plant material and labor to install native prairie and wetland plants in the Waverly Terrace Park on the east end of the lake. A new grant-match program is underway, in which the association will match funds for lakeshore owners to purchase native plants to plant on their lake shores. The purpose of this program is to improve water quality by installing plants to help filter runoff into the lake.

To receive the biannual newsletter or to become a member of the Waverly Lake Association, contact Jen Andrews at (763) 658-1510 or e-mail at heronbeach@earthlink.net

You are not required to own lakeshore to become a member of the lake association. We encourage everyone to become members to support the city's lake. Membership dues are $20 per household per year.
