Gustafson receives scholarship

Kathryn Gustafson, daughter of Tim and Kelly Gustafson of Cokato, was recently selected to receive an EMC Insurance Companies Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year. A 2010 graduate of Dassel-Cokato High School, Kathryn is a junior at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. She earned the scholarship by earning a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, while studying accounting and business administration at Coe.

Engagement: Heidi Saksa and Jake Nelson

Jon and Janet Saksa, along with Tom and Kerry Nelson, all of Cokato, are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their children, Heidi Saksa and Jake Nelson.

Both Heidi and Jake are 2005 graduates of Dassel-Cokato High School. Heidi is currently employed as a registered nurse at Buffalo Hospital, and Jake is a resident counselor at the Village Ranch.

Preparations are being made for a Friday, July 13, 2012 wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Gillman of Cokato are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Gillman, to Boyd Birdsill of Exeland, WI.

A Saturday, June 30, 2012 wedding is planned.

Birth: Emma Pauline Engelsmeier

Austin and Jessica Engelsmeier of Brownton are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Emma Pauline Engelsmeier, Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Emma weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and measured 20 inches long. She was welcomed home by her big brother, Easton.

Grandparents are Jim and Deb Martinson of Cokato; Kathy Engelsmeier of Hutchinson, and the late John Engelsmeier; and great-grandmother Pauline Martinson of Cokato.

Birth: Layla Rene Haverinen

Dale and Vanessa Haverinen would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Layla Rene Haverinen, Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Grandparents are Chuck and Bonnie Nikula of Cokato, and MaryAnn and the late Arthur Haverinen of Menahga.

Mara Erickson and Daniel Hilker of Dassel are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Cassandra Leigh Hilker, Monday, April 30, 2012, at Buffalo Hospital.

Cassandra weighed 8 pounds, 11.7 ounces, and measured 20.25 inches.
