Janice L. Barfnecht

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 for Janice L. Barfnecht, age 51 of Watertown, Minn. She died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis.

Janice was born Jan. 30, 1946 at Watertown, Minn., the daughter of Woodrow and Ardis (Guetzkow) Hecksel. She was baptized Feb. 17, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, by the Rev. W. L. Ernst and confirmed May 24, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church, Winsted by the Rev. Schroeder.

On Aug. 21, 1965, she married Donald K. Barfnecht at St. John Lutheran Church, Winsted, by the Rev. Baker.

Janice was preceded in death by her son Darwin Barfnecht, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Violet and Walter Barfnecht; grandparents Gustav and Lena Guetzkow, Henry and Minnie Hecksel, Emil and Martha Wandersee, Herman and Bertha Barfknecht.

Janice was the marketing manager in financial services at First American Bank in Watertown. She worked at the bank since 1964. She was very active in church functions including mission treasurer, choir, Ladies Aid. She participated in Friends of Elim, American Heart Association, Chamber of Commerce, and Rails to Trails Committee. She and Donald owned the Forevers Yours Antique Store for two years.

Janice is survived by her husband Donald; daughter Dawn Barfnecht of Robbinsdale; parents Ardis and Woodrow Hecksel of Waverly; brothers and sisters-in-law Marlin and Marlene Hecksel of Watertown, Eldron and Sharon Hecksel of Winsted, Lennis Hecksel of Waverly; sisters and brothers-in-law June and Gerald Gongoll of Waverly, Joyce and Ronald Schmidt of Maple Plain, Jane and Ronald Dressel of Maple Plain; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane and Duane Weibel of Waverly, Eugene and Donna Barfnecht of Watertown, Joan and Kenneth Moy of Mayer, Dale and Betty Barfnecht of Mayer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Jeff Harter officiating.

Interment was at Watertown Public Cemetery, Watertown. Casket bearers were Janice's godchildren, Bridget Barfnecht, Paula Dressel, Dennis Gongoll, Jason Hecksel, Dean Hecksel, Kelly Schmidt and Ronald Weibel.
