Bernard L. "Bud" Hasslinger, age 87 of Bellevue, Wash., formerly of Rockford, Minn., died Friday, Oct. 3 at his son and daughter-in-law's, James and Karen Hasslinger's, home in Bellevue.
Bernard was born April 9, 1910 to John and Rosa (Schneider) Hasslinger in Minneapolis, Minn. He was a graduate of DeLaSalle High, class of 1927. He married Bernadette M. Keefe June 18, 1935, who preceded him in death in 1974. He married Arvella Greehling in 1976, who preceded him in death in 1993.
Bernard is survived by three children, John B. of Grass Valley, Calif., James T., of Bellevue, Wash., and Paulette Ann Deal of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Bernard, a long-time resident of Rockford, Minn., was owner of the Rockford Hardware, 1936 - 1964; charter member of the Rockford Lions Club, the volunteer fire department and several other village organizations. He was also a member and trustee of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, active in the church choir, the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the first Archdiocesan Council for the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul.
Visitation was from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation was also for one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto with the Rev. Brian Fier, officiating. Vocalists were granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Rosemary and Christopher Hollingsworth.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were James Deal, Michael Deal, Nicolas Goris, Joe Fignar, Christopher Hollingsworth and John Hasslinger, Jr.
