Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998 for Carl F. Herrmann, age 91 of the Cologne/Norwood/Young America area. He died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minn.
He was born June 19, 1906 at Hancock Township, Carver County, Minn., the son of Karl and Lucy (Klaustermeier) Herrmann. On July 8, 1906 he was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township by the Reverend Robert Kaiser and later confirmed there on March 28, 1920 by the Reverend Herman Amend.
On Dec. 2, 1928 he married Gertrude M. Dreier at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hamburg in a service officiated by the Reverend E. J. Bouman.
Carl was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. He farmed his entire lifetime. He and his wife, Gertrude celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Dec. 2, 1997. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by this wife, Gertrude; daughters and sons-in-law, Doreen and Vernon Walter of Cologne, Marcella and Gerald Engelke of Bloomington, Geraldine and Donald Trocke of Bloomington, Mariann and Richard Kamps of Norwood Young America.
He is also survived by grandchildren: Bonnie and Jim Luedloff, Connie Walter, Tom and Pam Walter, Terry Walter and friend Deb, Gary Walter, Larry Walter, Cheryl Kamps, Lynn and Robin Klug, Pamela and Bryan Johnson, Kimberly and Thomas Pelletier, Brenda and Mark Janke, Jason and Michell Engelke.
He is further survived by great-grandchildren: Kristal, Kortney, Ben, Tim, Kate, Kyle, Amber, Amy, Abby, and Anna; sister-in-law, Martha Dreier of Hamburg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a son, Merlin in 1940; parents; brothers, George and Henry, and sister Marie Kramer.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township, Cologne officiated by the Reverend Eric L. Zacharias. Interment was at the church cemetery. Casketbearers were grandchildren: Tom Walter, Terry Walter, Gary Walter, Cheryl Kamps, Lynn Klug, and Jason Engelke.
