Funeral services were held for Ambrose George Remer, age 85 of Winsted, who died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997 at St. Mary's Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Winsted at 10 a.m. The service was officiated by the Rev. Robert Wyffels. Interment was in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery with casketbearers Richard, Daniel and Wayne Remer, Kenneth Hausladen, John Campbell and Leo Gagnon.
Ambrose George Remer was born May 17, 1912, the son of Frank Remer Sr. and Catherine (Lachermeier) Remer.
On Oct. 5, 1936 he was joined in marriage to Irene M. Shovelain at Holy Trinity Church, Winsted. They farmed in Winsted Township and later in Victor Township.
He is survived by children: Gerald and wife, Joan of St. Louis Park; Helen and her husband, David Earley of Brooklyn Park; Geraldine and her husband Glenn Kliest of Richfield; Charles (Chuck) and wife, Trudy of Winsted; Melvin and wife, Cindy of Bloomington; Bernadine and husband Kenneth, Juncewski of Silver Lake; Harold and wife Paula of Lester Prairie; and daughter, Carol Kohler of Howard Lake. He is further survived by 32 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; five sisters: Hildegard Hausladen of Waverly, Marie Orton of Minneapolis, Magadaline Campbell of Mayer, Leona Wagner of Waverly and Irene Erdman of Winsted; and three brothers, Ralph and Andrew Remer of Minneapolis and Linus Remer of Corcoran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irene, one infant son, son Clarence and three brothers: Frank, Joseph and Leo Remer.
