Roger G. Sherman, age 54 of Winsted, died Thursday, Oct.
2, 1997 at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born in Winsted Township Aug. 22, 1943, the son
of Albert B. and Martha J. Schlagel Sherman.
Roger was a 1961 graduate of Holy Trinity High School.
On Jan. 14, 1967 Roger Sherman was joined in holy marriage
to Janet Fasching at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed
their marriage with a son Andy and a daughter, Kathy.
For 17 years he was employed at Sterner Industries as a
sandblaster and painter.
Roger was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council #8253.
Roger served on the Winsted School Board and later on the
Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School Board from 1988 until 1997. In addition,
Roger played Santa Claus in Winsted for many years.
Survivors include his wife Janet Sherman; a son, Andy Sherman
of Hutchinson; a daughter, Kathy Sherman of Winsted; a grandson, Nicholas
Sherman; a brother, David (Judy) Sherman; and sisters Viola (Marvin) Kieser
and Betty (Ron) Zachmann, all of Winsted.
He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Martha
Sherman and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andy and Marie Fasching.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Roger Sherman was held on
Monday, Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Father Robert J. Wyffels was the celebrant.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on
Sunday, Oct. 5 from 4-9 p.m.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
