Clarence “Don” Williams obituary


Clarence “Don” Williams, age 56 of Fairfax, passed
away suddenly Saturday, Nov. 22 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. from
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Fairfax with interment in the Crown Hills
Cemetery in Preston, Minn.
Visitation was from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Our
Savior’s Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Visitation continued Wednesday, Nov.
26 from 7:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Arrangements were by Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel of Fairfax.
Don was born Sept. 18, 1941 in Spring Grove, Minn. to Gladys
Karon (Treagen) and Clarence Lester Williams. Don was baptized as an infant,
Oct. 19, 1941 at South Fork Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Mabel,
Minn. He was later confirmed in his faith as a youth June 19, 1955 at North
Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro, Minn. Don and his family moved
to Lanesboro, when he was five. He attended high school there and went on
to continue his education at the Austin Technical College, where he studied
to be an agronomist.
On Oct. 20, 1962, Don was united in marriage to Carol Wilbright
in Lanesboro. This union was blessed with four children, Jeffrey, Pamela,
Kathryn and Steven. The couple lived in Lanesboro for a few years, before
moving to Fairmont, Minn. In 1989, Don and Carol moved with their family
to Fairfax, Minn., where Don enjoyed working at the South Central Coop,
as an agronomist sales manager, for eight years. Don resided there until
he passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997. The couple had celebrated 35 years
of marriage.
Don was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed being Santa’s helper, camping, golfing and being with his friends,
especially his family.
He is preceded in death by his father Clarence in 1975;
oldest son, Jeffrey in 1963; brother, Everett; and two nephews, Chad Henrikson
and Gary Hoff.
Don is survived by his wife Carol Williams of Fairfax;
children, Pamela Flitter and her husband John of Winnebago, Minn.; Kathryn
Maday and her husband Tim of Hutchinson, and Steven Williams and his wife
Patti of Waconia; three grandchildren, Taylor and Alex Williams and Michaela
Maday; mother Gladys Williams of Rochester; brother Merlin Williams and
his wife Betty of Rochester; five sisters, Marjorie Hoff and her husband
Norman of Mabel, Cassandra Hahn and her husband Forrest of Oronocco, Elvina
Zielke and her husband Jerry of Winnebago, Ill., Gloria Tupy and her husband
Dale of Ankeny, Iowa and Karen Henrikson and her husband Randy of Alexandria,
Minn.; sister-in-law Mary Hareldson and her husband Herbert of Canton, Minn.
and many nieces, nephews and friends.
