Evelyn Agnes Ardolf
Funeral services for Evelyn Agnes Ardolf, 80, of rural Silver Lake were held on Saturday, Oct. 24, from Holy Family Catholic Church, Silver Lake, with the Rev. Bob Mraz officiating.
Mrs. Ardolf died on Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Glencoe Area Health Center.
Organist was Val Shamla, and congregational hymns were "A Closer Walk With Thee," "Prayer of St. Francis," On Eagle's Wings" and "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Bruce Kottke, LeRoy Posusta, Brad Burich, Ronald Burich, Terry Burich, Donald Humlicek and Bruce Ardolf. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Evelyn Burich was born on March 4, 1918, in Hassan Valley Township, McLeod County, to Charles and Frances (Molva) Burich. She attended school in District 56, Hassan Valley Township, through the eighth grade. She worked as a housekeeper in Glencoe before she married.
She married Frances Ardolf on Aug. 19, 1940, at St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe. After her marriage, they farmed and later ran a hardware store in Silver Lake until 1983.
She enjoyed fishing, baking and gardening. Her other interests were traveling, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ardolf was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and Council of Catholic Women.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Penas and husband, Ron, of Glencoe; two grandchildren, Michael Penas and wife, Lori, of Hutchinson and Robert Penas and wife, Peni, of Silver Lake; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew and Francis Penas; sister and brothers, Frances Kottke of Glencoe, Charles Burich and wife, Harriet, Clarence Burich and wife, Barbara, and Milan Burich and wife, Merva, all of Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; sister, Florence Posusta; and brother, Milo in infancy.
The Maresh Funeral Home of Silver Lake handled arrangements.
