Anna Maria Artmann
Anna Maria Artmann, age 88 of Winsted, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998 at her residence.
Anna was born west of Winsted in Winsted Township, McLeod County on March 24, 1910, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Schermann Neumann.
On Nov. 8, 1927, she was joined in holy marriage to Louis J. Artmann at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with four children.
Following their marriage, the Artmanns engaged in farming for many years. On Jan. 14, 1946, Louis Artmann preceded his wife in death.
Anna moved into Winsted in 1957 and eventually worked at Tonka Toys in Mound for 16 years.
Anna was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. She also belonged to the St. Anne's Society, the Renew Group, and C.C.W.
Anna is survived by her children, Leona Donnay of Glencoe, Melvin (Darlene) Artmann of Lester Prairie, and Marie (Gerald) Kaczmarek of Hutchinson; a daughter-in-law, Louise Artmann of New Germany; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Sophia Laxen and Anna Fiecke; a brother-in-law, Andrew Artmann; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Louis, Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Neumann; a grandson, Kurt Artmann in 1976; a great-grandson, John Pinske in 1986; a son, Gilbert Artmann in 1996; a son-in-law, Cyril Donnay in 1991; and by four sisters and six brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Dec. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L Wolf was the celebrant and Lavon Kielkucki was the organist. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Sunday, Dec. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. A St. Anne Society parish rosary was recited at 4:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service was at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Anna's grandchildren: Marlys Pinske, Gloria Oltmann, Bruce Donnay, Tom Donnay, Kevin Artmann, Keith Artmann, Michelle Kaczmarek, Paul Kaczmarek, and Jodee Wendorff.
