Gloria Lorraine Asplin obituary 5/4/98


Gloria Lorraine Asplin was born Nov. 8, 1927 in Wright
County, Minn., the daughter of Roy and Amelia (Drawert) Cochran.
She was baptized Nov. 27, 1927 at St. James Lutheran Church,
Howard Lake by the Rev. Carl Seltz and confirmed in her faith at St. James
by the Rev. Eugene Seltz on March 29, 1942.
She was united in marriage to Harold Asplin in September
1961 by a justice of the peace in northern Minnesota.
Gloria enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, bowling,
and had worked as a loan officer for Twin City Federal, Minneapolis. Upon
retirement, she returned to Howard Lake.
Gloria Asplin was called to her eternal rest suddenly at
her home, Monday, May 4, 1998, at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 26
days.
She was preceded in death by her father Roy Cochran; husband
Harold Asplin; sister, Delores Sexton; and two brothers, Gaylen Cochran
and Gibson Cochran.
Gloria is survived by her mother Amelia Cochran of Howard
Lake; three sisters, Gladys Stolka and husband Ed of Delano; Karen Duraine
and husband Robert of Hugo, Lois Berg of Cokato; two brothers, Gordon Cochran
of Howard Lake, Ronald Cochran and wife Arlene of Glenwood; nieces, nephews
and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were Friday, May 8 at St. James Lutheran Church
with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. The organist
was Diane Johnson with special music by soloist Brent Cochran.
Interment was at the Stockholm Lutheran Church Cemetery
following cremation.
Pallbearers were Jeff Mapes, Dennis Glessing, Tim Cochran,
Steve Cochran, Brent Cochran and Phil Sexton. Honorary pallbearers were
Connie Norman and Cindy Baker.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home
of Cokato and Howard Lake.
