Tressie May Batcher obituary 6/16/98


Tressie May Batcher was born Dec. 17, 1899, to James and
Lillian (Ducat) Penn in a log cabin on the city limits of Staples, Minn.
She was the first of six children.
Tressie left school at a young age to work in a restaurant.
A few years later, she met her future husband in the restaurant.
Tressie was married to Ray I. Batcher on June 1, 1919 at
the Methodist church in Staples. Together they had two children.
While she spent most of her life in Staples, Tressie also
lived in New Brighton and Golden Valley for a number of years before living
at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Tressie went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 16, 1998
at the Good Samaritan Center. She reached the age of 98 years, five months
and 30 days.
Tressie is survived by daughter, Alice (Batcher) Swanson
(Gordon) of Howard Lake, daughter-in-law Merrilyn (Rydstrom) Batcher, 13
grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and
son, David.
Services were held Friday, June 19 at the Walker United
Methodist Church of Howard Lake with the Reverend Marvin Repinski officiating.
Music was provided by Mildred Klarstrom and Bonnie Seegmiller.
Casketbearers were Dale Swanson, Steve Elmshauser, Douglas
Swanson, Wayne Swanson, Bill Wolfe, David Athey, Richard Scharber, Lyle
Swanson, and Julian Verbich.
Interment was held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Staples
June 19 at 2:30 p.m.
