Dennis Joseph Bennett
Funeral services for Dennis Joseph Bennett, 87 of Glencoe, and formerly of the Mora and Brook Park area, were Sept. 9, 1998, at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Eugene Lozinski officiating.
Bennett died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998.
Organist for the service was Emily Wilkins, and the song leader was Joanne Pohland. The congregational hymns were "On Eagle's Wings," "Amazing Grace," "The Prayer of St. Francis," "Come To His Aid," and "How Great Thou Art."
Kevin Jacques, Chris Jacques, Jason Jacques, Dennis Jacques, Dale Popelka and Jeff Eiden were the pallbearers. Interment followed at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery.
Dennis Joseph Bennett was born to Jordon and Phoebe (Smith) Bennett on Feb. 26, 1911, in Camden Township of Carver County. He received the sacrament of baptism in 1939 at St. Albert The Great Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
He was united in marriage to Verna Schuler on July 3, 1939, at St. Albert the Great Church. He was also confirmed there in 1942.
Dennis worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, Loftus Landscaping, American Brake Shoe and Fruen Milling Company. The couple then moved to Kanabec County, where they began farming 33 years ago. One year ago, they sold the farm and moved to Glencoe.
Dennis enjoyed being outdoors, cutting wood and picking berries. He also spent a lot of time woodworking.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and one grandchild.
Dennis is survived by his wife Verna of Glencoe, daughters: Joanne Jacques and husband, Kenneth, of Glencoe; Carol Bennett of Backus; and Renee Purdes and husband, Jerry, of Isle; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah "Sally" Stegner of Minneapolis; as well as other relatives and friends.
