William E. Brossard, age 88 years, of Winsted, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born in Pine Island, Minn. on Nov. 5, 1909, the son of Louis V. and Clara A. Lueders Brossard.
On June 25, 1942, William E. Brossard was joined in holy marriage to Ann Katherine Neudecker in Albert Lea, Minn. God blessed their marriage with three children: Thomas, Teresa, and Daniel.
Ann K. Brossard preceded her husband in death in January of 1992.
While a resident of Pine Island, William Brossard was an oil distributor and the proprietor of the Brossard Oil Company. He also worked for Hess Lumber Company.
In 1959, Brossard along with a partner established Winsted Lumber. He eventually bought out his partner and would own and operate Winsted Lumber until 1967.
For the next several years, he was employed by Sterner Zimmerman Implement. Later he worked 18 years at the Holy Trinity Parish and School complex and also maintained its cemetery.
He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. He was also a devoted volunteer at St. Mary's Home.
Survivors include his children: Thomas Brossard of Mound, Teresa Brossard of Shorewood, and Daniel Brossard of Winsted; sisters and brother, Dorothy G. Roach of Rapid City, So. Dak. and his twin sister, Sr. Mary Andre, RSM of Aurora, Ill. and James R. Brossard of West Concord.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife Ann, he was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Clara Brossard, and by his brothers and sisters: Mary C. Closner, Henry Brossard, Marguerite M. Dunagan, Louis J. Brossard, and Mary E. Peshak.
A Mass of Christian Burial for William E. Brossard was held on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Robert J. Wyffels was the Celebrant and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 4 - 9 p.m. A parish Rosary was recited at the chapel on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
Rosie Hertel was the lector for the mass and Dick Genty was the commentator.
Tom, Dan, Paul, Kevin, Jack, and Tony Brossard were the casketbearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
