Arthur William Buckentin
Funeral services for Arthur William Buckentin, 95, of Hamburg were held Oct. 10 at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg, with the Rev. Donald Andrix officiating.
Mr. Buckentin died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at the Glencoe Area Health Center long term care unit.
The organist was Betsy Werner. The congregational hymns were "I'm But a Stranger Here," and the Emanuel Men's Choir sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Meine Vader Ich Bin Muede."
The pallbearers were Robert Buckentin, Ronald Meilke, Myron Schwarzrock, Jeffrey Stenzel, Dale Thiesfeld, Leon Buckentin and Mike Buckentin. Interment was in the Emanuel Cemetery.
Arthur William Buckentin was born May 4, 1903, in Young America Township to Henry and Magdalena (Dreier) Buckentin. He was baptized and confirmed at the Emanuel Lutheran Church.
On Nov. 10, 1926, he was married to Anna Theisfeld. Anna died in February of 1964.
On Sept. 9, 1977, he married Lydia Lueck. Lydia died in August of 1996.
Mr. Buckentin lived his entire life in Young America Township doing what he enjoyed the most, farming. He was a life-long member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and harvesting and cleaning butternuts.
Surviving are his sister, Erna Tanke, of Hamburg; nieces, Viola Stenzel and husband, Elton, of Arlington, Lillian Zastrow and husband, Linus, of Amboy, Leona Schwarzrock and husband, Melford, of Gaylord, Luella Comnick of Glencoe, and Margaret Buckentin of Hamburg; nephews, Robert Buckentin and wife, Shirley, of Hamburg, Hillard Theisfeld and wife, Leatrice, of Norwood Young America, Melvin Thiesfeld and wife, Anita, of Glencoe, Albert Thiesfeld of Chaska and Wallace Tanke of Lester Prairie; as well as many grand nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna; wife, Lydia; brothers, Otto and Ernst Buckentin; sisters, Emma Buckentin, Elisa Thiesfeld and Olga Bentz; and nephew, Erwin Buckentin.
The Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Norwood Young America handled arrangements.
