Kathryn Clark, age 89 of Monticello, passed away Monday morning April 20, 1998 at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
Memorial services were held Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Monticello. Visitation was one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. There will be a private interment. Arrangements were made by Peterson-Grismo Chapel of Monticello.
She was born April 4, 1909 in Hartford, Ia. to Gordon and Esta (Pierce) Utterson. She moved with her family to the Monticello area in the 1920s and grew up on a farm south of Monticello.
She graduated from Monticello High School in 1925. She then worked for a telephone company in Buffalo. Later, she moved to the Des Moines, Ia. area where she again worked for the telephone company and also at the state capital.
While living in Iowa, she met and married Carroll Clark. The couple returned to Minnesota and made their home in the Monticello area.
She also lived in Roswell, N.M for 22 years, returning to Minnesota in 1996.
Kathryn was a talented artist working with ceramics and oil painting. She taught art classes in ceramics and painting both in Monticello and New Mexico.
Over her life, she entered many art shows and state fair competitions, and won many awards.
She was a long time member of the Monticello United Methodist Church.
She had been a resident of the St. Mary's Care Center since November 1997.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (David) Dawes of Winsted; two grandchildren, Lisa and fiancee, David Gilbert; and Keith; and two great-grandchildren, Eric and Alex.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Earle, two sons, Keith and Joe; husband Carroll and nephew, John.
