Geneva Phyllis Diers was born Aug. 5, 1940 to John and Grace (Werner) Olson in South Haven, Minn. She was the second of four children. While growing up in South Haven, Geneva gave her heart to the Lord as a young girl and was confirmed at Lake Union Covenant Church.

Geneva attended school at South Haven and then graduated from Annandale High School. She went on to St. Cloud State College and received a degree in accounting. In her senior year of college, she met Stanley Diers of Howard Lake while working at Green Giant Canning Company in Cokato.

Geneva and Stanley were married March 2, 1963 at Dassel Covenant Church by the Rev. Bob Christianson. The couple made their life farming by Howard Lake and raising their family. Geneva took a very active role in operating the family business, doing farm work right alongside Stanley, her husband of 35 years.

They attended Albion Free Church, where Geneva served as pianist and treasurer. She was involved with the Wright County Home Extension and the Wright County Farm Bureau. She was a 4-H leader, past secretary of Wright County DHIA and the first woman to serve on the board.

Geneva enjoyed gardening and her indoor plants, especially African violets. She also enjoyed music and being a pianist. She was a very social person, always offering a cup of coffee and talking on the telephone.

Geneva passed away at home in her husband Stanley's arms on Oct. 27, 1998. She had reached the age of 58 years, two months and 22 days.

She is survived by husband Stanley, children Julie (Mark) Berning of Albertville, Linda (Sean) Groos, Phillip (Teresa) Diers, and Alan Diers, all of Howard Lake; four grandchildren, Kristine, David, Rebecca, Ethan and one on the way; her brothers Lowell Olson of South Haven and Leland Olson of St. Cloud.
