Donald J. Dolezal
Funeral services for Donald J. Dolezal, 67, of rural Hutchinson were held on Dec. 21 from the Holy Family Parish in Silver Lake, with the Rev. Robert Mraz officiating.
Mr. Dolezal died of cancer and respiratory problems on Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998 at Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Organist was Val Shamla. Musical selections were "On Eagle's Wings," "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."
Pallbearers were Randy Knoll, Larry Ulrich, Dwight Freitag, Scott Dolezal, Gregory Wegner and Terrance Speckel. Honorary ballbearers were Todd Dolezal, Tyler Dolezal, Tera Dolezal, Matthew Dolezal, Daniel Rauch, Melissa Rauch, Jill Rauch and Nathan Rauch, all grandchildren. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Mr. Dolezal was born on July 23, 1931 in Hassan Valley Township, McLeod County, to John J. and Sophie (Schultz) Dolezal. He attended District 51 and District 52 country schools, St. Joseph Catholic School in Silver Lake as well as Silver Lake High School.
Mr. Dolezal was an auto mechanic at Harpel Brothers in Glencoe for 35 years. He was self-employed at Don's East End Garage from 1967-73.
He married Tina Kaping on Feb. 16, 1957 in Montgomery, Minn.
Mr. Dolezal enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, auctions and sales barns. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and raised wild ducks and geese.
He was a member of VFW Post 906, a life member of Legion Post 141, a life member of Gopher Campfire and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Tina; children, Robin Dolezal and wife, Julie of Hutchinson, Bruce Dolezal and wife, Deborah, of Hutchinson, Bobbi Rauch and husband, Eugene, of Cosmos; brothers and sisters, Leslie and Marcie Dolezal of Minneapolis, Franklin and Marilyn Dolezal and Gerald and Jane Speckel of Coon Rapids, John and Grace Dolezal of Montgomery, Richard and Nancy Dolezal of Lester Prairie, Edwin and Janet Dolezal of Hutchinson and Willard and Gert Dolezal of Silver Lake; seven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; brothers-in-law, Donald Kaping and wife, Lilly, Darrel Kaping and wife, Grace, Herbert Kaping and wife, Janet; sisters-in-law, Eunice Ulrich and husband, Ray, and Sharon Wegner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Knoll; brother, Ernest as a baby; brothers-in-law, Steve Knoll, Milo Wegner and Clarence Frietag; sisters-in-law, Delores Frietag; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herbert and Mamie Kaping.
The Maresh Funeral Home of Silver Lake handled arangements.
