Loretta G. Fasching, age 94 of Winsted, Minn. died early Wednesday, May 6, 1998 at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.
She was born in Hollywood Township, Carver County, Minn. on Nov. 27, 1903, the daughter of Daniel and Mary E. Vieau Herron.
Loretta attended St. Cloud Normal School and later Mankato State University. She taught for 13 years at country schools.
On July 27, 1936, Loretta Herron was joined in holy marriage to Lawrence Fasching at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. God blessed their marriage with two daughters. Lawrence preceded his wife in death in 1981.
Loretta was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted and had served on several church committees through the years. She also had been involved in a church Bible study for more than 30 years.
Loretta was an active member of the St. Anne Society. She also belonged to and was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #407 in Winsted.
She is survived by daughters, Mary (Bernie) McRaith of Hutchinson and Eileen Fasching of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Colleen (Les) Johnson, Mary Pat McRaith, Sarah (Eric) Dieckman, Brigid McRaith, Amy (Wayne) Nodsle, Kevin McRaith, Barry (Kim) McRaith, and Nora McRaith; great-grandchildren, Brian, Michael and Connor Johnson.
Loretta is further survived by sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, and by four brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Loretta was Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Robert J. Wyffels was the celebrant and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Friday, May 8 from 4 - 9 p.m. A St. Anne Society rosary was recited on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. and a parish scripture service was held Friday at 8 p.m.
Casket bearers were Kevin and Barry McRaith, Wayne Nodsle, Brian Mahon, Colleen Johnson, and Mary Pat McRaith.
