Emma E.Geisenkoetter, age 96 of Winsted, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998 at St. Mary's Care Center, where she had been a resident for 11 years.
She was born in Winsted Township on Nov. 10, 1901, the daughter of Frank H. and Mary (Millerbernd) Schermann. On May 1, 1928 she was joined in marriage to Bernard "Ben" Geisenkoetter at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted.
Emma and her husband farmed south of Winsted in Winsted Township for many years. She was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and also belonged to the auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 9232 in Winsted.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; a daughter, Henrietta; her parents; brothers Henry, Joseph, Paul, Leonard, Norbert, Vincent, and Edward Schermann; and sisters Clara Schermann and Theodora "Dora" Stifter.
Surviving her are her sisters Marie Kieser of Winsted, Veronica Bergermann of Munster, Saskatchewan; brother Frank Schermann, Glencoe; brother-in-law, Albert Geisenkoetter, Howard Lake; neices, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was at the chapel of St. Mary's Home in Winsted on Sunday, Feb. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. A V.F.W. Auxiliary service was held at 6 p.m, with a parish rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Emma Geisenkoetter was held on Monday, Feb. 2 at 10:15 a.m. at the chapel with Father Robert J. Wyffels as celebrant. Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the mass; Hubert Schermann, commentator, and Felix Stifter, lector. Gift bearers were Bernadette Libor, and Emily and Elaine Schermann.
Dean, Tom, Donald, and Norbert Schermann, Vincent Stifter, and Lawrence Libor were casketbearers, with interment in the church cemetary.
