Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 23, 1998 for Leland W. Goede, age 81 of New Germany, Minn. He died Saturday, June 20 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born June 26, 1916 in Camden Township, Carver County, Minn., the son of Emil and Lena (Lohrke) Goede.
Leland was baptized July 30, 1931 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany by the Rev. Theodore Rolf and confirmed by the same March 29, 1931.
On June 2, 1945, he married florence E. Quaas at Zion Lutheran Church at services officiated by the Rev. Elmer Schwandt.
Leland was a meat cutter for many years at Ittel's Meats in Howard Lake and Effertz Meats in New Germany. He was a retired New Germany fireman. They attended the wake and the funeral in a group.
He loved his family and grandchildren and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Surviving him are his wife Florence, daughters and sons-in-law, LeAnn and Gerald Goede of New Germany, Karen and Roland Lehrke of New Germany; grandchildren: Kelly Goede and friend Eric Soderholm, Ryan Goede, Todd and Terry Lehrke, Ty Lehrke and fiancee Kristin Bentz, Tracy and Scott Johnson.
He is further survived by great grandchildren: Adam and Aaron Lehrke, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Virginia Goede of Norwood Young America, Otto and Bernice Quaas of Watertown, Anna Mielke of Waconia, Ben and Lila Quaas of Mayer, Wallace and Sylvia Quaas of Chaska, Mildred Honebrink of Belle Plaine, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. from St. Mark Lutheran Church officiating by teh Rev.Jack E. Dahl. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery with casketbearers Todd Lehrke, Ty Lehrke, Ryan Goede, Scott Johnson, Eric Soderholm, Gene Goede, and David Goede.
