Erland Ervin Grack
Funeral services for Erland Ervin Grack, 63, of rural Glencoe, were held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with Rev. Layton Lemke officiating.
Mr. Grack died on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Glencoe Area Health Center's long-term care unit.
Organist was Cindy Maier, and the soloist Henry Templin sang "Jesu Geht Voran." The congregational hymns were "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" and "Beautiful Savior." Jodi Sanken, Steffie Schuft, Terri Schuft, Connie Simonett and Vicki Hermann also sang "On Eagles Wings."
Pallbearers were Willmer Harbarth, Orlin Pieschke, Hillard Grack, Willard Grack, Lowell Brelie and Elvin Lindeman. The Honorary pallbearers were Earl Schiltz, Harold Schroeder, Kenny Juncewski, Wendell Buerkle, Alvin Schiroo, Fred Grack, Lori Berg and Amanda Grack. Interment was in High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.
Mr. Grack was born in New Auburn Township, Sibley County on Dec. 27, 1934, to Albert O. and Esther D. (Frauendienst) Grack. He was baptized on Jan. 27, 1935, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, by the Rev. H. Werner and confirmed on April 10, 1949, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, by the Rev. A. Streufert. His education was in District No. 34 Country School in New Auburn Township through the sixth grade and then at First Lutheran School the eighth grade. When he finished school, he helped his father on the farm, including shelling corn, silo filling, and sawing limber.
On Aug. 1, 1956, Mr. Grack was united in marriage to Eleanor E. Schuft at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fernando, by the Rev. Fred E. Lehne.
As well as operating the farm, he spent 22 years running a truck, hauling sweet corn, peas, sugar beets, and occasionally bulk milk.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served on the New Auburn Creamery Association Board.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, working with wood, traveling, lawn care and listening and dancing to old time music.
In 1988, the couple moved to Green Isle and then for last two years they have resided on a hobby farm three miles north of Glencoe in Rich Valley Township.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; eight sons and two daughters, Eugene Grack and wife, Linda, of New Auburn, John Grack of Phoenix, Ariz., Elmira Kern and husband, Earl, of Lester Prairie, William Grack and wife, Ronda, of Silver Lake, Arnold Grack and wife, Mari, Norma Mathews and husband, Harlan, Robert Grack and wife, Jill, Vern Grack and fiancee, Tammy Schwanke, Joel Grack and Merel Grack, all of Glencoe; brother, Jerome Grack of New Auburn; grandchildren, Jessica Rhodes and husband, Ron, Tony Grack, John and Angela Kern, Eric, Brad and Jacob Grack, Douglas, Travis and Rebecca Grack, Scott, Greg, David, Gary and Paul Mathews, Wesley and Tyler Grack, Justin and Tatum Wenzel, Joseph Shanahan, and Tiffany and Trisha Schwanke; great-grandchild, Aaron Rhodes; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Benny and Gloria Schuft of Stewart; as well as other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
