Leonard H. Gueningsman, age 63 of rural Lester Prairie, died Monday, May 4, 1998 at his residence.
He was born near Lake Mary in Victor Township, Wright County on Aug. 17, 1934, the son of Frank and Margaret Kieser Gueningsman.
Leonard honorably served in the United States Army.
On April 30, 1960, Leonard was joined in holy marriage to Elaine Rehmann at the rectory of Holy Trinity Church. God blessed their marriage with six children.
Leonard was employed as a carpenter. He had worked as a carpenter for Littfins and for Timber Construction. In the later years, Leonard had been self employed.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, children, Jo (Fritz) Lukes of Lester Prairie, Jean (Tim) Sicheneder of New Germany, Jim (Laurie) Gueningsman of Cokato, Jerry (Cindy) Gueningsman of New Germany, Jeff (Kay) Gueningsman of Winsted, and Jody (Linda) Gueningsman of Annandale; grandchildren, Jenna Lukes and Jessika Lukes, Bryan Sicheneder and Brad Sicheneder, Jamie Gueningsman, Kasey Gueningsman, and Cody Gueningsman; Nicole Gueningsman and Kayla Gueningsman; and Cole Gueningsman.
He is further survived by brothers and sisters, John (Lavonne) Gueningsman of Lester Prairie, Elmerine Fautsch of Menomonie, Wis., Clifford (Leana) Gueningsman of Lester Prairie, Marvin (Joan) Gueningsman of Howard Lake, Verdella (Simon) Sterner of Winsted, Marcel (Karen) Gueningsman of Shakopee, Clyde (Darlene) Gueningsman of Watertown, Marlys Briesemeister of Lester Prairie, Willard "Bill" (Jan) Gueningsman of Wabasso, Ralph (Claudette) Gueningsman of Silver Lake; brother-in-law Albert Helmbrecht of Buffalo, Harvey (Rhonda) Rehmann, Dennis (Betty) Rehmann, Bill (Elaine) Rehmann, and Phil (Sharlene) Rehmann; and a sister-in-law Lucy Rehmann.
Further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Margaret; two sisters: Luella Gueningsman and Leona Helmbrecht; by a brother-in-law Ray Fautsch; and by his parents-in-law, Gilbert and Viola Rehmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard Gueningsman was held on Friday, May 8th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Robert J. Wyffels was the celebrant and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Thursday, May 7 from 4 - 9 p.m. A parish scripture service was held on Thursday evening at 8 p.m.
Leonard's six children served as his casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
