Raymond H. Hoof
Funeral services for Raymond H. Hoof, 76, of Lester Prairie were held on Saturday, Aug. 22, from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Randall Tonn and the Rev. Grant T. Bode officiating.
Mr. Hoof died on Aug. 19, 1998, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Michelle and Matthew Coy, Rachel and Curtis Ricard, Marc Vinkemeier, Ryan Hoof, Jonathan Buckentin, Daryn Hoof, Daryl Hoof, Jodi Hoof, Kristi Buckentin, JaNaye Hoof and Lori Hoof. Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Hoof was born on March 28, 1922, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, to Henry and Alma (Will) Hoof. He was baptized on April 23, 1922 at the Evangelical and Reformed Church, Lester Prairie, by the Rev. H.B. Witzke and confirmed on April 5, 1936 at the Evangelical UCC Church, Lester Prairie, by the Rev. F. Schnathorst.
He was married to Ruth Kohls on Feb. 24, 1945 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. John Meyer.
Mr. Hoof farmed in the New Germany area from 1945 to 1972. He was employed at Schwartz Manufacturing for 37 years.
The Hoofs were both active members of St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany and St. Paul's Lutheran in Lester Prairie. He served on the church councils of both churches and held various offices in both churches, including the board of elders.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sports activities and in helping his wife weave rugs.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children and spouses, Larry and Jeanette Hoof of Lester Prairie, Donald and LaJean Hoof of Lester Prairie, Shirley Vinkemeier of Chanhassen, Lynette and Richard Buckentin of Hamburg, James and Julienne Hoof of Lester Prairie; 14 grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Esther Hoof Sr. of Hutchinson, Wildfred and Clariss Bachmann, Henry Bachmann, Orville and Ruth Bachmann and Grace Bachmann, all of Norwood Young America; brothers-in-law, Lester Alsleben and Lyle Katzenmeyer, both of Brownton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rodella Alsleben, Elvera Scheurer and Marlys Katzenmeyer; brothers, Vernon Hoof and Herman Bachmann; sister-in-law, Lorna Bachmann; and brother-in-law, Thomas Scheurer.
