Erma E. Hultgren

Erma E. Hultgren, age 78 years of Lester Prairie, died Saturday, March 21, 1998 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

She was born in rural Waverly on Aug. 24, 1919, the daughter of Edward and Selma (Sieg) Lauzer.

Erma graduated from the Howard Lake High School.

Prior to her marriage, she was the church organist at the Oster Covenant Church.

On Dec. 20, 1941, Erma Lauzer was joined in holy marriage to Clarence Hultgren in Watertown. God blessed their marriage with four children: Rosie, Millard, Joyce, and Patricia.

Erma Hultgren was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence M. Hultgren; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosie and Don Stern of Mayer, a son and daughter-in-law, Millard and Donna Hultgren of Huntley, Montana; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Gary Anderson of Watertown, Patricia and Larry Strei of Lester Prairie; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Erwin Kowalke of Delano, Eldor and Pauline Hultgren of Seattle, Wash., Everett and Pat Hultgren of Minneapolis; and by many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Selma Lauzer.

Funeral services for Erma Hultgren were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Pastor Sherri Sandoz officiated and interment followed at the Lester Prairie City Cemetery.

Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Monday, March 23 from 4-9 p.m. A prayer service was held at the chapel on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Mary Mielke was the organist for the funeral service. Fred and Tamara Limmel were the vocalists.

"The Strife Is O'er, the Battle Done," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Jesus, Still Lead On" were sung as congregational hymns.

Jeff Stern, Chad Strei, Troy Hultgren, Wade Stock, Bruce Kjenstad, and Steve Bakken served as the casketbearers.
