Funeral services for Marvin L. Huser, age 88 of Lester Prairie, were held Saturday, April 4, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Officiating was the Rev. Sherri Sandoz. The organist was Jan Smith and special music was provided by Claire Larson and Tim Smith. The congregational hymns were "He Leadeth Me," "Oh Blessed Thought," and "Faith of Our Fathers." The duet was "Borning Cry."
Casketbearers were Eric Huser, Paul Huser, Jenny Huser, Donovan Birkholz, Dane Birkholz and Paula Remer. Visitation was held Friday evening at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie. Interment was in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Bergen Township, rural Lester Prairie.
Marvin Leroy Huser was born the son of Egbert and Mary (Halvorson) Huser on Jan. 20, 1910 in Bergen Township. He was baptized on Feb. 10, 1910 at the Bergen Norwegian Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dahl. Marvin was also confirmed there by the Rev. Holie on Aug. 2, 1925.
Marvin attended District 48 school and graduated from Lester Prairie High School in 1928.
On June 11, 1938 he was united in marriage to Helen M. (Kramer) at St. John's Lutheran Church in Young America. The couple lived on his parent's farm until 1977 when they moved to Lester Prairie.
Marvin was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he held various positions on the church council.
He also served on the school board for District 48 and on the board of the Farmers Co-op Elevator. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, planting trees and loved to go dancing.
On Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center, Marvin Huser entered eternal rest at the age of 88 years, two months and 11 days.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Lester Prairie; children: David Huser (Aria) of Darwin, Joel Huser (Linda) of Andover and Caroline Birkholz (Donn) of Lester Prairie.
He is further survived by grandchildren: Eric Huser and special friend, Janeen; Paul Huser and wife, Ann; Brian Huser and special friend, Christina; Jenny Huser and special friend, Steve; Donavon Birkholz, and Dane Birkholz; step-grandchildren: Paula Remer (Harry), Tim Johns (Brenda) and Steve Johns and special friend, Sarah.
He is also survived by sisters: Agnes Schrupp and Helen Zellmann, both of Norwood Young America; brothers and sisters-in-law, Laura and Cy Hatlell of Rushford, Minn., Olga and Edwin Halvorson of Lester Prairie and Hilton and Ruth Kramer of Norwood Young America.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Egbert and Mary Huser, grandson, Marc Huser, two brothers and four sisters.
