Goodwin P. (Goody) Johnson
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998 for Goodwin P. (Goody) Johnson, age 64, who died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998 at his home in Mayer, Minn.
Goody was born Oct. 7, 1933 at New Effington, S. D., the son of Peter and Gilma (Stageberg) Johnson.
On March 4, 1961, he married Jean A. Duncan at the Assembly of God Church in Clearwater.
Goody was a great husband, father and grandpa. He was a best friend to everyone. He loved to sing and was the leader of the Dakota Ramblers band. Gordy will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father Peter; a brother, Alfred; and a sister, Gladys Beyer.
Goody is survived by his wife Jean; daughters and sons-in-law Jeri Olson of Chaska, Brad Olson of Brooklyn Park, Shelly and Larry Cardinal of Chaska; son and daughter-in-law Cory and Jackie Johnson of Watertown; grandchildren Katie Olson, Brandi Johnson, and Lance Cardinal; and his mother Gilma Johnson of Waconia.
He is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Gerald and Ruth Johnson of Victoria, Marlow and Jo Johnson of Watertown; sisters and brothers-in-law Eunice and Melvin Sorenson of Granite Falls; Adeline Benson of Waconia, Rose and Dale Strege of Chaska, sisters-in-law and brothers-in law Jerry and Julie Duncan of S.D., Marvin and Mary Duncan of Waconia, Neil and Char Duncan of South Haven, Chuck and Barb Duncan of South Haven, Janet and Melvin Read of Waconia, Joan and Dennis Schmidt of Watertown, Judy and Dennis Collins of Waconia; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services were at 11 a.m. from Minnestrista Baptist Church, St. Bonifacius, Minn. with the Rev. Ken Unruh officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Troy Schmidt, Bill Read, Patrick Dunn, Gaylyn Benson, Brian Strege, and Keith Sorenson.
